I never tried to convince Arnvidr to change the conscious decision of stealing. I had the impression that there was no conscious decision to steal win10 but more like a confusion in wether this is problematic or not – and not active conscious stealing! I was just trying to help getting the facts together.

Microsoft allow you to use Windows 10 without registering or buying a license, but they limit your customization options and you have to put up with a watermark. Which is why he can't change his wallpaper.
He downloaded it from MS and isn't breaking any rules.

Just to make it very clear, Microsoft does not allow you that. If so, please cite the passage in any legal text where Microsoft is doing this. I based my assumption upon the written license Agreement from Microsoft *¹. In there it is very clearly stated that under section 2a. "Installation and Use Rights."

License. The software is licensed, not sold. Under this agreement, we grant you the right to install and run one instance of the software on your device (the licensed device), for use by one person at a time, so long as you comply with all the terms of this agreement.

So its says – to paraphrase this – you can use the Software if you agree with all the other points in the license agreement. So in that case you also need to agree with the terms under section 5. "Authorized Software and Activation."

You are authorized to use this software only if you are properly licensed and the software has been properly activated with a genuine product key or by other authorized method. ...

So a copy of Windows that is not "properly activated" is not licensed and as such you are not authorized to use the Software. I invite you to show me a legal text from Microsoft that would violate their own passage here and grant you a license.

Are there any "hard facts" and/or numbers that show that linux is used in "hollywood productions" on a larger scale? I know a few examples myself but this thin data is by no means representative. I know that studios (or any other company) is very closed about how internals work, what software to use etc. But i wonder if there are some metrics existent in what professional fields linux does play a role. I, for myself, having a professional programming background know that linux is quite common (based on the field etc.) the stackoverflow developer survey has some nice stats (please note that this number are quite biased based on the userbase here) http://stackoverflow.com/research/developer-survey-2016#technology-desktop-operating-system [External Link]

It's not that the game is one month late and i go full "i hate those guys, let's block/boycott everything from them". It's far from that. I am a professional software developer myself and i know the trouble of releasing software. But if you're one year late – of a potential one day all platform release – i just lost interest. It's not that i actively have them on my naughty list, but if i read one month after another of potential releases and a somewhat poor information policy of the publisher my threshold changes. After all my windows friends played the shit out of this game in the last year and moved on to the next cool shit – i see myself not in the position of a high Likelihood to want this game anymore. It just so happens that i ignore this game now – i just go on – next please ... :( other games catched my attention and my list of "games to play" i have in my steam lib is longer than i have time to play them. I am feeling sorry for rocket league but that ship sailed a long time ago ...

Don't care anymore. The game was interesting when it was released. Totally lost interest in it – to be honest i really forgot the game altogether and i don't care in the 12th "soon to be released news" anymore. I am throwing my money at people who deliver – not just promising. If they finally release it – i don't care anymore.

Hard to understand this decision. Just use Vulkan for all Platforms – End of story. For the Apple Hardware just use MoltenVK and you're done.
