It's not investing, and I really find the term 'funding' to be inappropriate too because there isn't any ROI.

What you are doing is donating. There is zero accountability and the projects may do with the money as they please.

Now all Windows clients get this poll but not all Linuxuser.

Steam has 125,000,000 active accounts according to the the lastest statement from valve, your 6,200,000 number is an old value for the maximum CONCURRENT [External Link] peak users.

If the survey was on 10% of the active users, 112,500 Linux users would've needed to take the survey in order to reach 0.9%.
I'd say thats statistically significant. If it wasn't a statistically significant number of linux users the value would fluctuate wildly.
