Wednesday Madness, a quick look at some good Linux gaming deals

Quoting: calfretI see this term used quite a bit on this site, and I don't know what it means.

What is 'Roguelike'? Is that just a term for a top down view style game?
Rogue was an old ASCII adventure game. It had randomly generated rooms and focused on exploring said rooms. Modern Roguelikes tend to have procedurally generated levels, enemies, and weapons, as well as permanent death.

I had to read that title a couple of times. Interesting service, but I feel that my lack of Internet may be an issue.

I just want to say this:
We can't be mad at VP, as this decision was most likely made by the publisher and was out of their control.

We also can't complain about having to buy it again. I know that real Linux gaming is recent thing, and that this is an old game, so of course anyone who gamed before 2012 would have been on Windows. So it makes sense that many Linux gamers still own a copy. But if we want our platform to grow, we have to understand that developers and publishers can't make money off of games that everyone already owns.

I don't really like this, and hope it doesn't become a trend. But if we want old games to be ported, we must be willing to pay for said porting. This is why I refuse to buy games that have yet to be ported. Sure, there are quite a few games that I'd like to play, and there was a time when I might have just pirated them. But I now own more games than I have time to download, let alone play. So I live by the GOL motto:
No Tux, No Bux

Note from Liam: Fixed the name of the porter in your comment (It's VP), so people don't get the wrong idea.

Leaving Lyndow adds Linux support to their well reviewed short adventure game, my thoughts

I wasn't really paying attention until I saw that first picture. Then my jaw dropped. Sad that it doesn't have much gameplay value, but isn't that always the case? Trine 3, Firewatch, Limbo. Beautiful, but short.

Quoting: g000hJust recently completed Shadow Warrior (2013). Great game, much fun was had. Now hurry up and release SW2 for us Linux gamers.
Off topic, but I agree completely. Shadow Warrior was the little game that could. A no-name developer, remaking a ridiculous old fps from the nineties, whose main character was named Wang. What could go wrong?

Nothing apparently. Epic game; all the feels. The sequel can't come soon enough.

Half Life 2 and it's episodes are some of the few games that I can play over and over again. Much like Harry Potter, I find myself defaulting to them when I'm out of other things to play. It doesn't help that I don't like strategy and RPGs, so for a while there wasn't much else to play.

On a another note, I finally finished episode 2 recently, with a Steam Controller! That final battle was epic, but overwhelming for a while.

This is one that I wanted to play, but my lack of Internet became somewhat of a hindrance. The login screen looked nice though.
