Quoting: MGOidIt is broken for me. Installed it from their repo and nothing. Complains about errors in some files. Tried download the source and run it as told by their page, same thing. Dependencies are installed, obviously.
What does "errors in some files" mean? Works perfectly okay here: Ubuntu 16.04, 64Bit, openSUSE repo.

It's looking like Linux may hit 3,000 games on Steam by the end of 2016

I recommend this site:

I don't agree with him either, but that doesn't make him a troll. We've all got opinions. I've got all the best opinions, but that's beside the point. ;)
Mine are generally bestest. Period. But anyway: What's the point of ranting on GoL that Linux games lack this and this and this and that (and therefore Il Comandante has to use his trusty Windows) - we are all perfectly aware of the (less and less) shortcomings Linux gamers are confronted with. So in this context I think he/she qualifies as troll.

Edit: Typo fixed. Yes I'm that pedantic.

I don't get. Seriously. If you are so starving for all the quality triple-A titles with day one support - stick to Windows. Please.

Linux overall market-share percentage falls on Steam in October

We are talking about 0.04%. To put this into perspective: if say one million surveys were issued last month this makes a difference of 400 less for Linux.
Discussing such miniscule fluctuations is a waste of time (you are basically saying the same thing) but "Linux marketshare falls" in such a context sounds like clickbaiting.

Black Mesa, the very popular fan-made recreation of Half-Life is now on Linux in beta

Quoting: TheGZeusI think the Half-Life games aged like milk, and are so linear and scripted, I don't see how people play them more than once. I liked HL2 the first time I played it (save the horrid vehicle sections), but the second time was exactly the same. Same linear path you get shoved down. Same solutions to the same problems.
I remember thinking found secrets the first time, only to discover that there's basically no secrets save the ammo and health marked with lambdas.

Scales from my eyes, I'll take the Doom games any day.
1 and 2 have ludicrously stupid stories, but the gameplay is more varied and fun. 2016 has a good story that stays out of the way.

Hell, I'll take Quake 1.
Played through HL1 three times (twice on a Windows machine, once - including Blue Shift and Opposing Force on Linux), and HL2 at least twice. Go figure!
Doom!? Jeez. It's fun. Finished it several times, too. But varied? And the most intelligent Doom enemy gets beaten by a barnacle. Easily.

Better to thank the awesome porters for giving us great games :D
Appreciate their efforts by buying the games - in a way that actually earns them the deserved money.

(The beefsack move is still a fantastic idea.)

What have you been playing recently, and what do you think?

War Thunder (still). Hexcells Infinite. Every now and then a brief race with Distance.
