Linux is holding exactly where we thought it would in the Steam Hardware Survey

I always thought gaming is about playing games, not merely buying games. If you look at the most popular games on Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/stats) I'd say that at least 50% of these titles are equally available for Linux, too.

Quoting: wolfyrionWell if you look the Steam TOP SELLER GAMES , you will understand why gamers are not getting a steam machine, and if you still didn't understand why, the question is very simple as it has been for ages...
"Why to get a steam machine or install Linux if I cant enjoy playing the newest best games?"
When the 99% of the TOP games is released exclusively for Windows and if we are lucky we may see a port after some years then this is a huge NO,for every passionate gamer.

Linux is holding exactly where we thought it would in the Steam Hardware Survey

Well, I can't complain. Gotten it on my Linux machines (no Windows available for comparisons) for maybe 6 or 7 times over the past 3 years.
Anyway, why should we see a change when allegedly there is no survey in Big Picture mode? SteamOS machines will never see a survey and never be accounted for.

Quoting: wleoncioNot only it's a survey, it's apparently a non-random sample biased against Linux users (there are many testimonials of people never getting those surveys on their Linux partition but getting them frequently on their Windows one), so those OS percentages are probably underestimating the true percentage.

My First Hours With A Steam Link

What would be the benefit of a "local" steam client sans any games?

Quoting: EKRboiWait.. so am I reading this right? While using the steam link it doesn't run a local version of steam? It actually streams the steam client from your main computer?
If so, I'm extremely glad I didn't get one.

Major Engine & Content Update To The MMO War Thunder

Actually you can get away with really short sessions. Recently I have hardly been playing more than an hour a day, and I usually spread it out over 2 or 3 sessions. An average arcade air battle lasts 10 to 15 minutes.

Quoting: wojtek88That sounds great. My problem is that whenever I see "MMO" abbreviation I know that this game is not for me. I just play when I can and as long as I can (usually with frequent breaks) so MMO games are just not for me.
Anyway, I'm sure that there are a lot of people that will play this title because it looks very nice.

Ars Technica Benchmarks Show Windows 10 Beating SteamOS Performance

Not according to these comparisons

Granted, these are rare cases (War Thunder is another example that comes to mind) but it is not an inherent problem of the platform.

CS:GO -> Positional Audio doesn't work as expected out of the box , mouse input is hard to configure | requires good linux knowledge | to get full performance you need to tweak the starting commandline | some still have issues (microstutters) with multithreading enabled | performance below windows
DOTA2 -> performance below windows

Batman: Arkham Knight Will Be Available On Linux And SteamOS In Spring 2016

Adding 8GB might be an option for you. What if your RAM banks are already full? Or your motherboard provides only one bank? Or two banks filled with 2GB modules? Then you would have to rip out your already installed memory and get 16GB modules.

Quoting: pbQuoting: KeizgonQuoteFor Windows 10 users, we’ve found that having at least 12GB of system RAM on a PC allows the game to operate without paging and provides a smoother gameplay experience.
People are whining about this
I honestly don't get this attitude, especially given that adding 8GB RAM to a system costs less than this game to begin with. ;-) When building my Steambox I bought only 8GB because at the time there was not a single game that would actually benefit from more RAM. But I left one slot free for another 8GB in the future, because that's how computing works and has always worked. Especially so with Windows - as far back as I remember, every new Windows release has always meant huge boost of sales of memory expansions. ;-)
