After making Crusader Kings II free, Paradox are now giving away The Old Gods expansion

Quoting: Mountain ManA pretty safe giveaway for Paradox since this was one of the better early expansion packs, and the majority of CK2 players already own it.
Yes, probably the most essential of all of the DLC. Worth picking up.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI have Crusader Kings II but I'm afraid to start playing it. I need to keep some of my hours for other things.
"Other Things" are overrated when you're about to burn Burgundy for insulting your great grandmother.

This remains the best game I've played on Linux. Going Free to Play might scupper the hope of a complete edition anytime soon but it is hard to be churlish when they're offering so much content for no money at all.

8-bit inspired, flip-screen, twin-stick-shooter 'Cecconoid' is out with Linux support

It hasn't been a style of game which has interested me since the 80's either, but I've been playing the beta for a few weeks and it has been great fun. Whilst it is brutal, it isn't quite as brutal as Cybernoid (as you're not dealing with the gravity mechanic in this one). I've made slightly more progress on every run, so I think the balance is just about perfect. I'll never have the skillz to get through the whole thing but will be checking Crash magazine on a regular basis for an infinite lives POKE.

A developer from Epic Games adds an offscreen video driver to SDL 2

This is cool. bschaefer wrote the Mir SDL driver which allowed us to play games on the Ubuntu Phone, so he is a coding hero of mine.

My guess is that Valve are behind this, but we'll see in time I'm sure.

Edit: should've read that he's working for Epic! The best advice is never to take my tips to the bookmaker :)

Imperator: Rome has a big free 'Cicero' update out now with some major changes

I've found that the game launches consistently from the Paradox Launcher after installing libc++abi1 on my Ubuntu 18.04 machine. Worth a try if you're struggling.

Quoting: ShmerlI'm surprised about what kind of assumption he was making. That it would "just work"? How?
I'm sure the only assumption Mr Pope was making was that yelling on the internet is not a good way to express an opinion. By politely and tactfully demonstrating the problems to the developers he has made his point constructively.

GOG has a pretty great Midweek Sale, some good Linux RPGs going cheap

I'd add a recommendation for Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition. I played through this a few months ago and was very surprised about how fun the whole thing was. On paper, a linear, battle-heavy RPG with little in the way of story would not appeal to me, but I actually had a blast with the default party. Don't overlook this one.

Imperator: Rome from Paradox is out today with same-day Linux support (updated)

I know for other paradox games you can use the cdkey from GOG to register your game on the forum. I don't have this game on gog so don't know if they've provided a cdkey this time. It is usually found in the "More" section of the download panel for the game.

Quoting: liamdaweHoly cow you're right, disabling my net does allow it to run, what the heck.
If you get the chance, it'd be great if you could contribute your experience at https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/i-r-linux-game-usually-fails-to-load-from-launcher-when-using-nvidia-418-drivers.1171095/ [External Link] . I think you'd have to register your game with paradox to access that forum, though.
