Well, I own Civ V, I own Civ BE, so I guess I now need to buy Civ VI when it releases, for customer loyalty purposes and all that...

(And to show that yes, Linux madmen do in fact buy games!)

SEUM: Speedrunners from Hell, a heavy metal first-person platformer that looks insane is coming to Linux

Well, as a heavy metal fan I guess I'm going to have to buy this :-).

Also did anyone notice this warning?

Warning: SEUM has been known to cause leaning disease. Symptoms are irrational leaning forward towards your screen when making difficult jumps. Smashing monitors with your head is not a way to beat the game!

Quoting: EKRboiEDIT* sorry for the tread jack... but i'm SUPER excited! Not necessarily for this particular game... but it's certainly news that it DOES run on Vulkan!

So word on the streets is that Doom CAN and IS running on Vulkan!!! *itshappening.gif*!!!

link [External Link]
At the very least it should (eventually) work via wine Vulkan backend. Native shouldn't be that much of an issue to port, but seeing as it's Bethesda... Let's just say I'm not holding my breath.
Yeah, nothing to be excited about. Doom is not coming to Linux.
You see, if this was a few years ago, I'd totally agree!

But here's the thing, we can't really dismiss it like that anymore.

I mean think about it. If this was 2012 we'd be saying "Don't get excited, <insert game here> is not coming to Linux!"

In 2012, the very idea of Tomb Raider, Grid Autosport, F1 <year>, Alien Isolation, Saints Row, Dirt Showdown, etc.... coming to Linux would be "Don't get excited, it's not coming to Linux."

But look at it now, we have several big AAA titles, and frankly I'm quite pleased with how far gaming on linux (no pun intended) has come in such a short time!

Honestly, I'm not sure what to expect, will we see Doom on Linux? Maybe, but also maybe not. Either way I would not be so quick to dismiss the idea of it.

Quoting: MblackwellToo bad you can't go back in time and install whatever driver version was out right before the release of the game on Windows. I wonder how many driver specific performance hacks there are for this game by now.
Look up the driver that was current at the time, go here:
http://http.download.nvidia.com/Windows/ [External Link]

and for the linux driver of the time:
http://http.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/ [External Link]

Have fun :-).

Note: You'll also need a graphics card from the time too.
