Valve did goods things for Linux because Linux is a good thing for Valve. But their end goal, like that of every big company out there, is to make money regardless of the consequences.
So fuck Valve. And fuck all the greedy fucks out there.

Developers of Party Animals announce an AI video contest - game gets a review bomb

And review bombs work. It's one of the few ways in which consumers can fight back.
I wish all this AI bs would stop because it's the only tech that requires mandatory usage quotas to justify more investments.
Every other unpopular idea/tech that yeilded this level of backlash should have been abandoned by now but we keep pushing it while it's actively being a detriment to society from all the perspectives in which you can analize it (energy use, profits, job loses, copyright infringement, ...).
So, no. People will not let this go because people hate this shit.

Quoting: SirMCJeagerI wish this anti-ai nonsense would stop. That's the thing, really. AI is being forced upon people throughout all aspects of life and that's not how you make something popular. Quite the contrary.

Regular users won't be able to turn it off, because "it's too hard to implement", but you can bet that the enterprise versions will have it.
Corporations always had autocratic tendencies but with AI they've ventured into the realm of the sad and pathetic and they couldn't be more proud.
I'm calling it now. As soon as Trump and his regime falls the whole AI boom will crash and burn.

This is a marketing stunt.
The "too dangerous too release" and the "access leak" from yesterday is all hidden behind NDAs that everyone who's been given access has to sign. There's no way to verify any of those claims.
The only ones that are pushing this besides anthropic are the corpo hats from mozilla. And even then, if you look at the much hailed release 150 patch log you'll only see a handful of fixes coengineered via AI which is far behind the much touted 250+ fixes figure that is being publicly passed around in press releases.
The whole point of all this fearmongering is to drive anthropic IPO valuation up. And it's working.

The corpo dream of having people adhere to the idea of "you will own nothing and you will love it", beyond its sarcastic tone, is failing and I cannot be happier.
MP3 players are having a resurgence. Vynil is king and wired headphones are increasingly popular with gen z as is the whole 2000s aesthetic. AI is also being slowly rejected. The world is learning.
Stream nothing. Own what you consume. Do not let monthly subscriptions consume your financial independence.
I've digressed a bit here but I do think the future is that of less big business and more small businesses working with each other simply because there will be little to no jobs to be had after corporations outsource everything under the veil of "AI efficiency".
When big tech and every other "big whatever" gets forever contracts with governments around the world they will no longer need regular small consumers like us to rely on for profits and so all of their services will be created to serve none of our needs.
We will learn to provide for ourselves again and trade with each other for products and services since corporations already only exist to generate profit for stakeholders as per their fiduciary duty.

Lutris now being built with Claude AI, developer decides to hide it after backlash

I used Lutris for a long time and when I saw how bottles handles it I didn't look back.
I'll admit that the whole AI bs made me uninstall Lutris but I should have done it ages ago just for the ease of use that bottles has.
Otherwise they are both wine wrappers. Ease of use is the whole point.

Lutris has, for each game or program you run through it, a different set of settings which you have to manually set.
In bottles the settings are the same for each bottle including the prefix. That makes it way easier for me when I want to run a new game through it by simply adding a new shortcut within the bottle to the game exe file without having to redo the other settings like how you do in Lutris.
Anyway, you're free to use whatever you want. Just wanted to clarify what we're talking about. :)

Quoting: fenglengshunLutris forces you to configure each game from scratch as in changing the lutris settings and not the prefix itself.Quoting: devlandLutris forces you to configure each game from scratch while bottles gives you one prefix aka bottle in which you can run things however you want.Uh, no? I myself just uses the same prefix (and the same system Proton CachyOS) for Lutris, Heroic, and Faugus.

Switched to bottles a few days ago and it not only works better for my already installed games it's also way easier to set up. Lutris forces you to configure each game from scratch while bottles gives you one prefix aka bottle in which you can run things however you want. It's really hard to put it all into one short comment but if you're a long time lutris user like me then bottles will likely fix all your grievances.
