As Christmas gift for all linux users, here is it a good script that optimize all UE3 Games to work properly and totally delete stuttering from games like spec ops the line.
The script is not translated yet (italian only) but it works if you wanna try.

Ok, now there are my settings on gtx970 4gb / i7-3770 / 16gb ddr3 1600mhz cl9.

Try to disable antialias and anisotropic filter.
I'm playing @1080p with everything maxed out on a GTX660ti+i5-2300+RAM 8GB (DDR3 CL9 1600Mhz).
I dunno my fps 'cause the FPS counter is disabled by default on SteamOS, but withouth antialias and anisotropic the gameplay is very smooth.

Now i'm trying the same on GTX970 4GB on Ubuntu Desktop.

Playing shadow of mordor and borderlands 2 right now.
I hate Lord of rings but the game is soo cool, I don't care a much about the story but this game is the best for just chilling around and brutalize orcs :P
Borderlands 2 great game, a huge map and tons of arms.
Actually 15hrs with SoM and 42 with bl2.
Playing other games occasionally (276 games in my library, ndr) but the main are those two.
