Quoting: Mountain Man"Yes, we will release on Linux as well as Steam OS."Well, of course we all know this, but think of it this way: Their statement was a marketing statement. There are SteamOS users who only know their gaming box by that name, so by saying 'Linux and SteamOS' they make sure to be clear to those users who only know it by that name.
So... they'll release on Linux.

I wonder how Valve feels about this- especially the handing over of credentials to an unknown (to them) 3rd party. Sounds like it might run afoul of the EULA:
"Your Account, including any information pertaining to it (e.g.: contact information, billing information, Account history and Subscriptions, etc.), is strictly personal. You may therefore not sell or charge others for the right to use your Account, or otherwise transfer your Account, nor may you sell, charge others for the right to use, or transfer any Subscriptions other than if and as expressly permitted by this Agreement (including any Subscription Terms or Rules of Use) or as otherwise specifically permitted by Valve."
While you aren't selling your account, Snoost is monetizing your Steam account without Valve's permission, and I don't see them liking that too much.

Should porters be paid for their work? Yes! That's how you get more ports.
Should you expect your games to run on every platform and pay once? It's nice, but not an expectation.
Should companies who adopt this pay-per-platform model be allowed to second rate Linux, or any platform? Not any more. By charging separate, you've just signed up to support all platforms equally, and at feature parity.

Liam, perhaps an editorial on how game development has changed from:
Development -> Alpha -> Beta -> Release
to
Development -> Release -> Alpha -> ?
It seems more and more games are releasing earlier and earlier in the development cycle. To what end, I have no idea, but bugs are now expected in a paid product far earlier and with more acceptance than they ever have, or so it seems. Am I the only one noticing this trend?

Quoting: rustybroomhandleAhem.Quoting: artvandelay440Interesting, for sure, but I urge everyone- the list of kickstarter funded games promising Linux support only to back out after we fund it, is a long one. No Tux, no bux.I have backed many projects and have never had this happen on any of them. I know there are some, but I find it hard to believe that it's a particularly long list.

Quoting: legluondunetThe price of this card is the price of my computer...Finally a console is cheaper to play games.You have to compare apples to apples. A 1080Ti is not a requirement to play PC games at equivalent performance to a console. Once you put together a parts list to play at 30fps @ 1080i (most, if not all consoles current gen limits) the cost comes way down.
