Quoting: KimyrielleQuoting: KoopacabrasPink slips being delivered like hot pancakes, meanwhile prices keep rising and rising, something doesn't add up 🤔🤔
I mean, if they are selling less, maybe they could try lowering prices.
Games actually got (relatively) cheaper compared with what they used to cost 20 years ago, while the costs for making them have exploded over the same period. The problem is more the opposite of what you suggested - it's rock hard to deliver the quality people want for the price they're willing to pay.

On a more negative note, 35% of the developers from the survey have been impacted by the lay-offs of 2023, and 56% are worried about their near future (next 12 months).

Much better that kind of Sovereign than the Mass Effect's one

Quoting: F.UltraQuoting: Purple Library GuyOne problem with working for the Sovereign Tech Fund is that insistence on paying in Sovereigns. Bags of coins in this day and age . . .
Considering that 1 Sovereign coin is worth aprox £400 I think they would be quite happy :)

I fear, in a near future, we're going to be forced to eat their subscription models if we want to continue playing games from the big companies. But I'm hopeful there will be a lot of companies that will keep releasing their games to purchase, and services like GOG, or even Steam, will continue to exist.
Otherwise, I have a big catalogue of games already, and can either stop playing games altogether or just play from it.
Also, fuck off Ubisoft.

It is possible with network ad-blocking, and one of my fav solutions is https://pi-hole.net/

Quoting: Purple Library GuyBut I don't really care about the bandwidth. Couldn't an ad blocker just let the ads get downloaded but just make it so they aren't shown to you? Then the website wouldn't be able to tell the difference and you could have an ad blocker that worked. Is that not possible?

I suspect one of the reasons for them releasing the game first in Early Access is to vibe check potential copyright infringements from Nintendo.

Quoting: Mountain ManI'm surprised Nintendo hasn't hit the developer with a cease and desist.

OpenAI say it would be 'impossible' to train AI without pinching copyrighted works

Yet their own platform, LLM, code, etc is copyrighted and not released under an open-source licence. I could potentially believe their shit if AI was to benefit everyone, not just them and/or a few companies.
That's like saying that I cannot profit massively without destroying the environment and exploiting employees. Oh, wait...
Today's citizens needs are not a fascinating AI built on top of other people's works. Citizens today need job stability, affordable housing, a public, free and of quality education and health, and the list could be virtually endless.

QuoteBecause copyright today covers virtually every sort of human expression– including blog posts, photographs, forum posts, scraps of software code, and government documents–it would be impossible to train today’s leading AI models without using copyrighted materials. Limiting training data to public domain books and drawings created more than a century ago might yield an interesting experiment, but would not provide AI systems that meet the needs of today’s citizens.

Silly question, what's the best way to use the Deck or the Steam Controller for games purchased in GOG? Is it just a matter of installing them with heroic and then adding them as a non-steam game?
