Unity have changed their terms of service, which has essentially blocked SpatialOS and streaming services

It also means that they can control who starts a game streaming service
It means that they can control who starts a game streaming service with Unity games.

With Unity, the engine is free for anyone to use, until the profits exceed $100.000. Maybe the calculations were designed for a market that sells individual units of a software, not sharing the same copy to multiple steam clients (even if only one player can play a given unit at a given time). Just a guess.

Discord announce a 90/10 revenue split, Discord Store will support Linux

Quoting: GuestThis is something that I'll probably never use, but it's nice that they're supporting Linux now.
They currently don't support Linux, they plan to do it. Also, they use the famous last words of a multiplatform developer:

We just wanted to focus on releasing Windows first to make sure everything works

Quoting: SamsaiI didn't say anything about exclusivity.
I know. I just added my thoughts on why there is quite some reluctance for the new stores.

Quoting: SamsaiI find it somewhat mind-boggling that distribution platforms taking smaller cuts is seen as some kind of an evil.
For me, it isn't the cut itself that's evil. As long as all sides have something to gain, it's fine. What's evil is that both Epic and Discord are going for (timed) exclusives.

Quoting: kuhpunktHow will get earn their bucks? Selling user data?
That's why I don't touch Discord in the first place. It was made to get as many people on board, then sell user data and eventually sell the company if enough people are using it.

I'd love if people would stop saying that they have an own Discord server. Nobody has. Only Discord has Discord servers. Nobody else. This phrasing makes it sound like as if the users are in control. They're not. Not at all.

Quoting: Guestbase game (30 €)
It's 40 even. There is the "Starter Pack" available on Steam. It's the base game and two expansions. You get a 10% discount on it, which makes it ~70 bucks.

They chose a really horrible name for this bundle. 70 bucks - and that's just the start. Literally.

Steam Link hardware officially walks the plank, there's an app for that

I think the Steam Link will continue to work for the foreseeable future. They don't give up on InHome-Streaming. Just this particular hardware.

Developer of 'Bad North', a real-time tactics rogue-lite seems keen about Linux support

Hm. It's also kinda honest. Of course it is exaggerated, but that is something a dev has to know: People will have all sorts of different problems that might steam from the game - or might stem from their distro or even just them misconfiguring their system.

It is a good idea to only support a few main distros and stress that when a customer complains. Otherwise, a dev might unexpectedly have a rather bad experience. I'm sure it's better to know of problems ahead instead of bumping into them when it is too late.

Imagine someone would make a 3D game in space that is physically correct and you have to plot courses to other planets which are moving all the time and will be at a completely different place when you get there.

I think only very few people would have fun with this.

I think it was an awesome product idea. Playing on the big screen is just the way to go for some kind of games. Sadly, the Steam Link had a few strong issues. The audio problem was the strongest one. The weird thing is that the audio delay is even a problem when you install Kodi on the Link and then stream a video from a remote machine.

I can honestly not imagine how that slipped through QA. But this pretty much killed the Link.
