I also buy Linux games. If there's an kinda interesting game, but it doesn't support Linux, it will fall off my radar more easily. But if there is a game I really want to play because I know other games from the developer or it's a successor of a game I loved, I will still buy it. Even if the developers state that they will never support Linux just because they don't have any experience nor interest in that. That's OK for me. I still like to give them money for a good game that is fun to play.

I still have my old windows partition, and I have to actively delete it to get rid of the option to play such games. I'm glad I did not, because playing Abzû [External Link] was really a brilliant and otherworldly experience!

I have to say that I wouldn't have thought that 67% are not dual booting - not even another Linux distro. Is it really that common for Linux gamers to not have a Windows partition ready for the case a game will not have Linux support - or just older Games which do not work well with Wine?

The Planetary Annihilation: TITANS free 'Legion' expansion from modders is now officially released

I think I will try it, but yesterday we had the strong feeling that this whole planet thing is not a necessarily good thing for RTS games. There are no real choke points on these planets, especially if you play in a star system with more than 1 planet. You have to constantly expand in every possible direction and take care of your fabbers.

I think being "restricted" to a 2D map section and premade maps is better suited for typical RTS game strategies. We're playing Supreme Commander 2 tonight - I'm really looking forward to it. It gives you a better overview over what's happening.

And what's even more important: You can disable Nukes in Supreme Commander 2. I hate those thingies. :D

In that case maybe a multiple selection would be nice. Because I can't say that I'm "mainly" a desktop gamer, of a sofa gamer. Games which favor Keyboard+Mouse are played at my desk, any other games which are designed to be played with a gamepad are being played on my comfy sofa.

It doesn't matter so much, but I just wanted to give some feedback about this. :)

Quoting: tuubi
Quoting: Doc AngeloUnder "Main gaming machine" you can choose between Desktop, Laptop and Sofa-PC. I think "Desktop with optional TV connection" and "Laptop with optional TV connection" should be added to that list.
Any laptop and desktop can be connected to a TV screen. That doesn't really give useful information about the hardware. I think if you mainly play with a controller sitting in front of the TV, you should probably pick Sofa-PC as your main gaming machine. Unless you mean streaming from a Windows host, in which case it's not relevant.
Does the question want to know in what kind of situation I am playing? (On my desk with my desktop machine / on my laptop because I play at different locations / in my living room with a computer connected to a big screen)

Or is it intended to know about the hardware? In this case, Desktop-PC and Sofa-PC don't tell a lot about the hardware in the case. Because either of these could be quite high end or low end.

Under "Main gaming machine" you can choose between Desktop, Laptop and Sofa-PC. I think "Desktop with optional TV connection" and "Laptop with optional TV connection" should be added to that list. It's not unusual to connect the living room with a simple HDMI+USB combination, so that you can choose where you want to play. With the Steam Link and Steam Machines it is getting more common to do this.

32-bit Linux distributions are no longer supported by Steam, Steam Web Browser disabled

If you bought Steam games for your 32bit system and you can't access them anymore, you essentially lost them. There is no reason you should buy a new system, just because most people think you "should" already own one. Old games run on old machines and are still fun. You don't have to have the fanciest technology to enjoy a new rogue-like or a puzzle platformer. (If they are somewhat well programmed.)

I have a couch living room media center PC. It's an Atom+Nvidia+2GB RAM. If the system would be 32bit and Steam would decide that I can't run the client+games anymore, I couldn't play those games in my living room anymore - as well as I couldn't use this PC for in home streaming within steam. It's perfectly capable of this and you don't need fancy bits or anything to receive a stream and display it.

Steam should at least somewhat support 32bit for a rather long time. I don't think I want to replace some of my systems with newer ones and generate electronic garbage for no actual benefit. It still works just fine for it's job.

'Noob Squad' is a perfect example of why Valve need to pay more attention to their own store

I don't actually know how this game would end up in anybody's steam game library. The only way would be to just buy some really cheap titles without looking at the store page. Just take a look at the store page. I think it is extremely clear that this is not "a polished full game". If you can't tell by the standard price, the store page should get the message across in less then 5 seconds. They even tried very hard to make it obvious that this game isn't meant seriously.

I don't understand why that would be a actual problem? Of course it's odd that those games are on steam, they don't serve any purpose except being silly. But hey, you really don't have to buy them.

Are there really that much people who are buying games without taking a look at the store page?

OTON X claims to be the first artificial intelligent games console, it's powered by Linux
6 Sep 2016 at 12:28 pm UTC

The whole Kickstarter page is full of pure bullshit. This is just a scam. The whole article reeks of buzzwords and pseudo IT.

To confirm the hardware used for both the OTON Home and OTON Ultra units are off the shelf components, however the OTON algorithm is custom made and develop by EnGeniux.
A simple question: Why should I buy additional hardware, when anything they say their software can do, can be done on "off the shelf components" that I already own?
