Proton Experimental begins work to allow Resident Evil Village to run on Linux

Quoting: orochi_kyoCapcom is going bankrupt cause you do not care. But the other 99% of Linux gamers will be fine with just clicking play on the game in Steam and able to play without the need of Dual Boot.
Two points:
1) I've no idea about Capcom's financial situation but I'd wager that a company would be more likely to go bankrupt due to churning out rehashes of the same IP every year or two.
2) The latest RE requires a little more than simply clicking 'play' to launch it in Linux.

Quoting: orochi_kyoI love Linux but some Linux gamers are not conscious they mean nothing to most developers out there.
You contradict yourself. I refer you to your sentence about Capcom 'going bankrupt cause you do not care'.

Edge of Eternity (via Proton as native is still unstable): now on chapter 5 and finding it very rewarding!

Got back into Jupiter Hell recently. It's a brilliant strategy game with cool weapons/upgrades and a variety of monsters. I'm rubbish at it but it's great fun :-)

The title Resident Evil Village sounds like it ought to be a theme park :-)

Looks lovely, but the Steam reviews tell a different story. I'm on the fence with this one and will probably wait until the price becomes a little more sensible.

What have you been playing? Have a Sunday chat with us

I've been playing Edge of Eternity on both Linux beta (some input lag and crashes) and through Proton. There's a new Linux build just released so I will check that out soon, though the Proton version is really responsive with very few hitches even on high settings.

It's a good old (J)RPG with story, exploring, crafting and plenty of side-quests :-)

The demo looked really promising but sadly the released game didn't seem to hold quite the same interest for me.

Quoting: slaapliedjeI wonder how much of this is for Redhat. Sure most people don't think RHEL when they think of gaming. But consider NVIDIA just recently opened official repositories for RH (they don't have them for any other distribution) and specifically for Quadro use. The fixes to hybrid graphics could also be down to RH based workstations (think Thinkpad P-series) needing it.

The wayland work also likely due to what I would assume the eventual inclusion in RH 9.x, or possibly a newer 8.x update.

Not that I am a huge Redhat fan, but they do seem to finance a huge majority of the Linux projects in some way.
I am a little unsure what do you mean by "official repositories for Red Hat". Just a driver package repo or some other form of repository?

In case of the first: https://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/ [External Link]
The is at least for openSUSE a dedicated repo hosted on the nvidia servers since several years now.

My apologize if I may misunderstand here something. I am just curious what you mean :D
Oh, well I'll be (and yes that's what I meant). I'm not sure how recent the RHEL ones were, but pretty sure when I had checked before last year, it did not exist. kind of surprised that opensuse has one. I mean I could see SLES having it. Is SLES still a thing?
Yes it is :-) SLES 15 is the current version.

Nvidia has had an OpenSUSE repo for well over ten years. The only occasional problem is that some beta drivers do not appear in that repo.

Both my wife and I enjoyed playing this game and selecting different paths, which often led to quite different outcomes in each chapter. Prior to this I hadn't played an FMV game since Phantasmagoria :-)

Highly recommended with some hammy but very enjoyable acting!

Quoting: torhamLooks good, but doesn't appear to support LAN multiplayer? I feel like you really need LAN support these days, who can invite friends over for couch coop?
As long as they are staying two metres away from you and wearing masks ;-)
