That manager was surely thinking about Total War: Attila, which indeed has come out. AngryPenguin also mentioned this but no more repliles, probably lost in twitter messages? But indeed their empoyee should know more about what is happening in his company...
I hope it is not dropped since everyone saying Attila seems like just a Rome2 DLC, same engine etc.
So it should be hard to port to linux at all, just get the same engine from Attila.

This port is a shame. I bought this game also a long time ago and I really have a good gamer rig with intel i7-4820k + GTX 770. But this game crashed in the tutorial right at first shot all the time.
If I skip tutorial I can join a server but after some minutes, i couldnt move properly. It seems that there is a keyboard delay bug. Sometimes you just stop, although you press 'W' to go forward, or it stucks moving or moves to the wrong direction. Unusuable.
Still not fixed...

Ok, it works just fine, I only needed to update my nvidia driver, which was already available in my repos.

@eddeduck: thank you for the tip, I double checked the driver version requirement in steam store page and checked what is installed on mine (I have the needed Ubuntu 14.04.03 and thought that driver req is the same that the default in this Ubuntu relase, but it is not), and saw it needs newer driver, so this was the issue. Luckily I had an even more newer driver available to install in my repos. After reboot it can start now without a problem.
Cheers!
