I like their approach to fetch the needed keys and files from your own handheld. Cannot confirm how involved the process is actually. That is the way to go for these newer, more complex systems if you don't want to be sued. Especially regarding the cartridge dumping for getting games to play.

But the Quickstart guide video has to be a joke, right? Yeah, sure, show how to visit a web page, download and run an application on Windows without ever touching the really pressing issues of the information extraction process itself that is describe further down the written guide. And people speak of hitting a steep learning curve with vim...

I'm all in for 2D Zelda likes! Although I guess it has less dungeon design, being a Metroidvania.

It's a shame a good chunk of the best games of this year are not available on Steam...

Quoting: BielFPsI hope they're also thinking in make a Vulkan version. It would be nice to have an open source fps using vulkan api, so it might encourage the community to improve it.
vkQuake [External Link] was one of the first open source implementations I know of. Just grab the shareware episode of quake and you're good to go on your testing.

It's a pitty Red Eclipse 2 throws players into parcour maps that don't let them test and improve their skills but instead block them from the fun by an insurmountable challenge right from the start.

The FOSS rendering engine OGRE is being ported to Vulkan

Godot got pretty far since they started their Vulkan work in April (iirc).

But for Ogre it means abandoning the roots of their name quite literally, as I think OGRE is the OpenGLRenderingEngine.

Extreme biking game 'Descenders' adds mod.io integration and a funny Wipeout inspired map

The trailer makes it look like a descendant of Defrag, the Quake mod. Somewhat like parcour on bikes in an amusement park.

The open source project I learned of this week and will keep a watchful eye on is Veloren.

And while the Aspyr Sale is nice and all, I'd rather like them to fix their Borderlands ports to be on par with the HD releases for Windows from a long time ago earlier this year. Wanted to finish the Pre-Sequel co-op before Borderlands 3 came out with some co-workers, but Linux and Mac are still a version behind and cannot connect with Windows players.
