Hot Lava from Klei Entertainment is in the works for Linux
20 Sep 2019 at 4:26 pm UTC

Hot Lava was the first game I tested with Proton last year and it worked fine right from the start. OK, the intro video does not play, but the gameplay is flawless.

There are lots of funny things to discover, like the pogo stick challenges or carrying a pug from start to finnish. And finding - and reaching - all stars and collectibles will take some time and skill.

Be warned though, the leaderboards will not be easy to conquer. There are lots of impressive runs that make use of all abilities and reveal shortcuts that will blow your mind.

Looking forward to play this natively sometime soon.

The emulation and media player front-end RetroArch just had a huge new release

I just hope my input will get recognized again at all! I can start the menu and don't move and select anything. I can start a ROM directly and there is no input either. No gamepad (although Xbox controller is recognized), no keyboard, no mouse. Happened to both the Ubuntu package and the snap version. A year ago everything worked fine...

Any news about them moving to Steam?

I really enjoyed the movement in Wasow and hope the Warforge release will include more racing maps right from the start.

Wow, props for the correct names of the platforms this title will release on at the end of the trailer!

That teaser screenshot (from about one minute into the trailer) on the wooden structure gave me instant Dungeon Siege 2 vibes.

Ion Maiden has become Ion Fury, release date announced for August 15th

I'm glad they are able to settle it just like that and get on with the game.

On the other hand, that is a dent in the shiny aura that surrounds Iron Maiden in my eyes. Not cool. I mean, come on, how could a brand new video game be mistaken for THE metal band that has been around for decades?

Would have been way better if they had worked out some tongue in cheek appearance, probably even with a commercial tie in that promotes their latest album or something. Think of at least posters in the game or some of their songs playing in bars or crowds lining up before a stadium for a concert. And the band playing their song "Iron Maiden" while showing a speed-run of the game or something. Both sides could have gotten a good laugh out of this.

Anyone remember Notch challenging Bethesda for a Quake match to settle their dispute over the Scrolls name? That is what fans love, not that legal nonsense.

Oh Well, wherever, wherever you are,
Iron Maiden's gonna get you, no matter how far.
See the blood flow watching it shed up above my head.
Iron Maiden wants you for dead.

Hyperspace Delivery Service has officially released with Linux support

First reaction: wow, the title reminds me of Hyperspace Delivery Boy! [External Link]

And even though you simply do not try to anger John Romero and Tom Hall, it might still be better than calling the game Hyperspace Trading Company (HTC)...

Marble Skies brings some fun 3D platforming to Linux

Back in the LAN party days I was playing Marble Blast Gold between matches. At the end of the event half the attendees were hooked and we stood watching each other performing tricks and shortcuts and generally competing for record times on all tracks. Great fun!

At a later party we chose to play another game from the GarageGames list: Orbz. This time actually in multiplayer matches. I'd still recommend this game, it's a weird blend of marble, scorched earth/gorillas, first person 3D snooker. Would love to see a remake of this one as well.
