I finished this amazing game on Windows back when I still used Windows and now I'm reliving those awesome memories on Linux. I think Feral is doing a great job and I have no doubt they'll release some performance patches.
This is my rig:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition (not currently overclocked so sitting at 3.4GHz)
MSI GeForce GTX 550 Ti Cyclone II 1GB
8GB DDR3 1333MHz
And a good old 7200rpm SATA2 HDD
So my PC definitely falls under the low-end bracket. So far the only time it's dropped below 15FPS (which is certainly unplayable) is when I transition between major areas which I can only assume is because of background loading. I'll admit I haven't done any formal benchmarks but it's not worse than when I played it on Windows. I'll see if I can do some benchmarks later so people have some low-end PC stats :P
Quoting: liamdaweStill enjoying it a lot myself, but it is worrying for people with a lower powered PC when compared with my beast. When my game drops below 20FPS I couldn't imagine playing it on a lower PC right now.I'm used to playing games at around 30FPS with graphics pretty much on the lowest settings with resolution at 1080p

Quoting: edddeduckferalJust got confirmation from the nice guys at Valve and we should have solved all your download issues if you had a package that didn't correctly update. The install issues are fixed for me now. Thank you Feral for all the amazing work you guys put into these ports and for the great, swift support you always provide.
Just log out of Steam and back in again and you should be downloading. If you still have issues please email [email protected] and make sure you mention your issue still happens after the Valve package update. :)

Quoting: tuubiThanks, I'll see which Logitech wheels are in my price range when Feral releases F1 for Linux. I use Arch Linux on most of my machines, so I'm very used to fiddling with things to get them working :)Quoting: Psycic101I've been wanting to get a racing wheel for a while now but I've been holding it off until the Formula 1 Linux release (which looks like it will be coming quite soon, as Feral have updated it's position on their release radar). Any suggestions as to which racing wheels work well with Linux. I'm keen for a mid to high range wheel.I've been lusting after one of the better Logitech wheels for what seems like half my life, but they've always seemed a bit too expensive for an occasional desktop racer like me. It's not like I can't play and enjoy driving games with my joypad. I'd love a good wheel but I don't think It'll fit in my budget any time soon.
To answer your question, I don't know if any of the wheels have full support out of the box, but there are third party tools for Logitech wheels at least (LTWheelConf [External Link] which enable features like 900 degree rotation. So be prepared to fiddle with your system if you want it all now. Many of them have most of their features working OOTB on modern kernels though.

Quoting: lvlarkMaybe as a unique question or something?Could make it so that an additional question spawns depending on your choice for the previous question, e.g User selected Debian based distro -> Question spawns asking which Debian based distro you use. Or, User selected Arch based distro -> Question spawns asking which Arch based distro you use.
Quoting: liamdaweConsidering the price of a semi-decent racing wheel, I'm really not surprised it's as low as it is. Something really for full driving enthusiasts I guess.I've been wanting to get a racing wheel for a while now but I've been holding it off until the Formula 1 Linux release (which looks like it will be coming quite soon, as Feral have updated it's position on their release radar). There is no official local co-op (splitscreen or shared screen) but you can host LAN games without an internet connection. Also, this game literally runs on nothing (I've run it on a laptop with 1.2GHz Pentium dual-core and 32MB shared video memory D: haha). And I guess if you used port forwarding you could host an internet game using the LAN feature, as opposed to hosting through Steam (the way it works with the dedicated server).

Quoting: ShmerlDoes it use some server, or it can be played over LAN?It supports online and LAN multiplayer with steam integration. It also has offline mode which, obviously, only gives you access to LAN multiplayer.
