I think I played at least 2/3 of the way through. I kept yoyoing between gallium on wine and native opengl as the hitching on initial level load was driving me kookoo. Otherwise a very enjoyable first person puzzle game. Not in the same league or same way as Portal. But looking forward to Talos 2 especially now they have Vulkan support.
Unreal Tournament on Linux, checking up on the progress by Epic Games and how to get it running on Linux

I was a huge UT fan back in the day. Played the hell out of ut99-2004 Lost interest by UT3 though.
The new game looks very Alpha. Face looks really dated even with the attempt to recreate it. I guess I'm just not feeling it.. But maybe that opinion would change if I try it. Also not sure how smooth the game runs on Radeonsi without a shader cache there is a lot of hitching last time I checked.

I bought this game because I wanted to support the developers as they've given good Linux support and it looked like a fun racing game, which we don't have tons of on Linux. Glad to see they're still pumping out updates.
On another note, I wonder if we will ever see a Linux version of Rocket League, thats been promised for like evar :-/.

A few more racing titles and SteamOS will start to look more like a proper alternative to consoles.

Quoting: adolsonMy bet would be on Feral too, they did a very good job with GRID Autosport imho. Whoever ends up porting it, I just hope they do a good job, really wanted to play this game since it came out.Quoting: RTherenSince the DiRT Showdown was ported by VP, my guess would be VP also here...Showdown uses an older engine, though. Rally uses the same engine as GRID Autosport. I think there's more of an argument for Feral to port based on engine, rather than franchise name. But maybe this is wishful thinking.

Talos Principle & Serious Sam 3 getting Vulkan updates, Serious Sam 4 will be on a much improved engine

I really hope Croteam thought this Vulkan update through and it provides real performance improvements over OpenGL, because it really needs it on Serious Sam and The Talos Principle. OGL performance is mediocre on my R9 270 compared to DirectX. The most annoying thing are the fps hitches when you first load a level, but Serious Sam 3 was frankly unplayable even at the lowest settings for me on Linux.. So I haven't been able to enjoy that game yet.

Been waiting for Blizzard to offer up Linux support for years, don't think they'll bother unless they see SteamOS or some other Linux gaming platform take off.

Quoting: Mountain ManIf I couldn't play Diablo 3 using Wine then I'd probably still have a Windows partition.I had it running quite nicely with gallium-nine (native dx9>mesa) except for some subtle microstutter which kinda ruined it for me.
I still hope Blizzard will one day support Linux, but until then, Wine is an acceptable alternative, and the performance is actually pretty good.

I use lord heavy's mesa-git on Arch and have been playing GRID Autosport with no real issues for the last few weeks. Getting 25-40 fps @ 1080p (medium settings) on my R9 270. Not silky smooth performance, but still very playable.
Oculus Rift VR headset will support Linux after release, looking like it's going to be pricey

As I imagine the VR is a fully emersive experience, I would hope they fix things that cause motion sickness from the start.
I think I would buy one if their were enough good games, proper linux support and the reviews give it a thumbs up. But they can't go too high on the pricing or else nobody is going to buy one.

Quoting: GuestGearVR + VR Cinema + Trans-continental/oceanic flight = Killer App.I have suffered with terrible motion sickness in some of my fav games, all the way back from when I used to play Doom. Funnily enough I never had a problem with some fps, but games like HL2 would make me want to barf. Finally found out you need the right FOV for your display/resolution and boom no more motion sickness. Had the same problem with Talos Principle recently and once setting the FOV between 90-100... amazing.
All the points TheBoss makes are valid: too expensive, too incongruent, etc. Also, motion sickness is REAL with these things! 20 minutes of Half-Life 2 and it's Game Over for me...............
