Love this, but one issue: Playing the emulated games fullscreen just turns the screen black for me...

I'm always a bit cautious about buying games without the linux icon on it...

Copy-paste is no issue and has in all of my normal applications worked as it does on X. No difference what so ever with the functionality (for my personal use). That includes the use of password managers.
Cursor issues I only experienced in WoW in Wine, nowhere else. So this problem seems to be very small at this point.
Screen recording and sharing is currently a large focus I believe. There was some proxy developed to make a standard for recording across different environments (if I remember correctly), but I don't think there is anything that uses it yet.
I'll give you the reason I use X atm though. The lack of high refreshrate in KDE and Gnome. I believe both are still locked to 60hz, which is annoying.

Quoting: ArthurDo keep in mind this is something I've only read about Wayland, also fairly recently, but I don't have first-hand experience so I can't guarantee all of these are still issues. To give some proper-ish information:

So, can you really recommend gaming on wayland with nvidia...?
27 May 2018 at 9:17 pm UTC
Quoting: PhlebiacAlright, thanks for adding information to that.Quoting: noxNvidia however doesn't want to support xwaylandI think it's more accurate to say upstream developers didn't want to support an additional code path (EGLStreams) when they had already settled on GBM. However, latest Xorg does have EGLStreams support for XWayland included.

Quoting: PhlebiacWhile this is true, you'll need SDL patched for wayland, which last time we tested didn't work at all (about 2 months ago).Quoting: noxso you'd have to only play games that only use wayland which is rare atm.Any games using SDL have native Wayland support.

Quoting: GuestCan you even game on Wayland? Maybe with open-source AMD drivers? Last I heard you can't do that with NVidia proprietary drivers and Wayland. You can game with about the same performance on AMD with both Gnome and KDE. Nvidia however doesn't want to support xwayland, so you'd have to only play games that only use wayland which is rare atm.
Mesa 18.1 is out with the shader cache on for Intel

I don't understand what your goal is, to be honest. Yes, mesa used to be much worse than Nvidia, but at this point they are mostly caught up. The main field they've been slightly slower at has been vulkan, but that is quickly being fixed as well.
Maybe it's time for you to check out how mesa is today, and not how it was 2+ years ago?

Quoting: Guestplayable and playable without texture corruptions and other issues caused by running a game in a mesa environment are two very different thingsSo, what games are you experiencing texture corruptions in?
Quoting: x_wingQuoting: Guestyes a recent game at a time when mesa is actually good vs games that were made when mesa was not so good totally proved wrong ;)Well I think it does, as I was answering to his last statement: "it's getting better but theirs always going to be that one game that is just not working or devs can't get working due to a limitation of the driver"
Also, the count of "old" games that are unplayable with Mesa is near zero...
