AMD GPU driver on Linux and Steam Deck to get big improvement on stuttering problems

Quoting: EhvisI've enabled proton experimental for a couple of games and it works nicely. It doesn't completely eliminate stutter, but it's definitely a big step up. The biggest test for it was Star Citizen, which still has noticeable stutter but more in line with DXVK_ASYNC builds. And a far cry from the multiple second stalls with plain DXVK.
If you use GPL right now, the shader cache gets disable. So your games will stutter much more at the beginning because it hast to build all shaders for each session. DXVK_ASYNC still works much better, even though it might corrupt your cache, it's still better than not having one at all.

BTW for all who want to check it out. It got introduced in mesa 22.3.0 and you have to set RADV_PERFTEST=gpl
İ have started Star Citizen installed with LUG installer script (linux user group for star citizen)
and it has has very little stutters time to time. Almost 1 sec or so. BTW user name is KUDUZ if you wanna play with in star citizen.
also looking forward for Vulkan Api update for Star Citizen.

get the game for free, and play it with anykind of transgaming tool. Even with valve's proton you can add game to steam library as non-steam game and run it.

Hi Linux Enthausis, and Gamers. Since 2009 knoppix live CDs i used many Linux distributions. Last six months i have been using Manjaro Linux. i can say Manjaro better than ubuntu in security speed and stability even its rolling release distro. Better with new kernels also just look big companies which are involved in linux and gaming they are already leaving ubuntu base for gaming. They are moving to arch base as much as manjaro. Try it use it distribute it. And Love your Manjaro

Quoting: Purple Library GuySo, with the new trend line, world domination in 50 years rather than 200?
Linux took over server hardwares less than 10 years. And now SteamOS taking over Linux Gamers Hardwares.
After unification of distributions i mean if we(linux gamers) could be installable SteamOS Holo and so on on our PCs
Linux user population will go higher than ever. Then probably we start see AAA native Linux builds of games and so on. And im glad i saw how Linux is easy to play games nowadays thanks to Steam and transgaming devs.
Still im hopefull about Google's Fuscia OS to be released and become standart OS for all hardwares except servers.

well Time will show.
