Quoting: ziabiceWow, it's a 670MB download: as big as a complete OS!Maybe that's what WINE devs meant the whole time: Wine isn't an emulator, it's a complete OS. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
The stable Wine 4.0.2 release is now available

Quoting: KimyrielleJust out of genuine curiosity, is there ever a good reason NOT to use the development branch? I have heard of rare cases, where newer versions of WINE break games that older versions can run, but a) these things seem to get fixed rather quick with a follow-up patch, and b) usually involve consecutive versions of the development branch, not stable vs development.I can't really imagine it, at least for games. Especially since it's very easy to run something using a specific version of Wine with Lutris for instance.
Usually, with WINE, newer = better. At least in my experience.

Quoting: xaviI never used controllers, just regular joystick when I was a kid, but ...How is the Linux support of those?
Why are you all so excited on Steam Controller when there are controllers like this? :

Is steam controller better than those?
It is a question, not criticism

I suppose part of the answer is the price and the software to manage the controller (I think it's free on steam controller).
Cheers

I like the Steam Controller but I want another joystick on it. Trying to use the trackpad for camera in games that expect a joystick is often enough a pain and there is no built-in preset provided that helps you compensate for that either.
It's especially frustrating when you bind the left joystick to produce output for the right one and see that yup, it works exactly as it should.
I'd vastly prefer if this was addressed in hardware or software by Valve so I don't have to fall back on Dualshocks.

Surely if humans were this sensitive to EMF, every time there is a sun flare people would drop dead in droves.

Quoting: vectorI would not be surprised if Linux users not using SteamOS or Ubuntu LTS are subject to the potential caveat that Steam Support [External Link] can refuse help requests if they so choose.Oh yes, they can. I got an "unsupported distro" response on an issue, even though it wasn't distro-related and even after I reproduced it in Ubuntu running in a VM.

I'm pretty content with the performance and behavior of dx9 games in vanilla Wine but this is nonetheless awesome and useful.
