I'd say it only competes with the other free editors out there, as in, it's not super good. I pushed through because I trust Blender to be capable of doing anything I'd ever want, because of the animation movies released by the team.
The mode I use most is the "Video Editing" one, but I'm moving towards the full 3D view because it lacks features

One thing I feel was neglected by OP, which I find to be very important, is to remember to dance.

But more importantly - remember to let go of farts while dancing. I know there's potential that it becomes very awkward, but the stomach ache you get by not letting go, makes it difficult to stay in a good dancing mood. So, fart.

Why would anyone want to "fix" those awesome looking purple helmets?
Also did they remove the ninjas from the game? Those where the worst experience in the original.

Yes. Jonathan Blow as explained in detail why they did, in one of his many videos. I can't remember what the reason was exactly, and I can't remember which video. I'm pretty sure he advocates that small teams always roll with their own engine.
