Nightdive Studios aren't sure when the Linux version of the System Shock remake will be available

Well, it's a process... many developers know Unity allows near-free Linux ports, are willing to provide them, but have zero Linux experience. My experience with testing a few Greenlight projects is that for a few days you are in heavy contact, things usually go smooth and after a while they decide to install Linux themselves.

And that's good. The gaming industry switching to Linux is a process, doesn't happen in one day, but step by step, developers are pushed towards it.

The Nightdive developers don't have Linux experience this is a bit of a surprise considering earlier releases, but those developers too will make their steps, and discover that releasing on Linux isn't rocket science too.

Quoting: dmantioneIt does that if you have configured Steam to show Windows games on the front page. If you tell it to show only Linux games, your queue will also contain only Linux games.
So where's the setting to change this?
Normally on the border of the highlight area on the frontpage. But since the store does not show its normal frontpage during the sale, the setting is not there at the moment.

Quoting: morbiusI'm getting Tomb Raider and Shadowrun: Hong Kong, that much is a given. But what else? Should I go for Oxenfree, as it looks like Kentacky Route Zero will never be under 10 euros (screw those guys). Or go with Life is Strange and then prey that it actually comes to Linux?
Please post a link to your Steam Profile, if we know what you already have, making recommendations is easier,

Quoting: mulletdeathIt really, really, irritates me that basically every game Steam suggests to me in my queue is a Windows game.

I believe many game developers just look at quantities rather than turnover (allthough that is not very smart). Therefore buying 5 games in a sale counts much harder in statistics than buying 1 game outside a sale.

So people, let's influence those statistics :)

Street Fighter V has passed the initial Linux & SteamOS release window

It is clear that Valve has less manpower working on SteamOS than a year ago for example. However, you can't conclude from that that they no longer stand behind it. Companies have to make though decisions to allocate staff, and SteamOS got competition from StreamVR.

SteamOS is linked with Steam Machines. It doesn't make much business sense to release a much improved SteamOS with current hardware. It makes much more sense to do that with new hardware.

We saw new Steam Machines from Alienware, with comments that Alienware were bullish on SteamOS. Obviously they know more than we do.

Personally I expect a good opportunity to try SteamOS/Steam Machines again is the moment it is possible to release low cost Steam Machines based on AMD hardware.

Want to benchmark Dota 2 on Linux? Here's how to do it
16 Jun 2016 at 10:34 am UTC

Any chance sometime can run "perf top" while the benchmark is running. It would be good to get an idea what the cpu is doing while running it. Knowing if drivers, kernel or game code itself is the bottleneck would be great info to see what performance potential there is.

I don't have Vulkan capable hardware myself, otherwise I would test myself.

As this is a CPU limited benchmark, I would be interrested to see a screenshot of "perf top" while it runs, to get an idea what the CPU is working on.

Yes, which is not the optimal mode to benchmark. We need to know if it did influence the results.

I think it is worth asking they guy if he can check wether using real full-screen makes any difference, but this is a suspect. With borderless window, there is a ccompositor that can decrease performance, with native full-screen this should not happen. If there is still a significant difference with native full-screen, then we need to look deeper, such as into drivers.
