JSAUX cancels current Steam Deck Dock with RGB, after competitor pinched it

I'm not sure I like having an LED that is front-blaring like that. An effect lighting at the back, sure.. but having it in the front of even front-bottom looks like it would be an annoyance or eyestrain. I'd say that this new was probably a blessing in disguise. Good on them for just doing it differently (probably better anyway) instead of abandoning it altogether.

Someone released the FOSS RTS 0 A.D. on Steam without speaking to the developers

While it's ethically sus, is that illegal or even against any of the game's open source license or Steam agreements/rules?

If there's no single ownership and someone publishes it in any other form, like on a CD or floppy, or posts it on a BBS or even on a forum.. nobody would bat an eye, even ethically. I'm just wondering whether this is different or if there's a case. It's interesting!

JSAUX released a firmware update for their Steam Deck Docking Stations

Some of us don't have, and don't want, Windows on our systems. Even more infuriating is the fact that the Steam Deck itself is a full fledged PC running Linux, already connected to the device via USB, and could very easily poll the version and flash the dock right from the Steam Deck without the need to use a separate PC. It baffles me that they didn't just use what's already there and fully capable.

No need to wait on Valve, the Steam Deck Docking Station from JSAUX is great

Quoting: MisterPaytwick$50 for a dock?

I need to check out the delivery fee, but sounds like a good way to get one.

Tho my deck isn't delivered yet, but that's good to have a not so expensive choice here.
They gave me free shipping on my order.

Linux 5.11 to see better support for ASUS gaming laptop keyboards

I've had my ASUS RoG laptop for about three years now doing tons of gaming on it (mostly STEAM and Lutris w/Overwatch) and it's worked GREAT. I did notice the keyboard LED lights weren't always behaving right until sometime this year--suddenly, they're behaving perfectly lately!

Intel launches 11th Gen Intel Core 'Tiger Lake' processors with Xe graphics

Finally! I've had to hold onto my Atari 130XE for decades! Great to see the XE graphics are finally here on my PC too! ...what do you mean that's not what this is?

Libretro / RetroArch were hacked, wiping some repositories
19 Aug 2020 at 8:46 am UTC

Did they protect their default (master/main) branch and require pull requests with approvals to do any merges? Admin accounts with the power to override shouldn't be used for anything beyond setting things up, I would think. Preferring NOT to use 2FA is the real surprise to me. Wow! :/ Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you. Stay secure, my friends.

Valve continues battling with the Team Fortress 2 bots

Yeah, I've been staying away and playing other games ever since the cheats and bots ruined it. Kinda miss the game, though. :/

HopFrog is removing Linux support from Forager and MacOS is not coming now either (updated)

I wasn't even aware of this game but now that I am... I won't be bothering. Not that I wouldn't buy a wine compatible game but to know they had Linux support and dropped it instead of fixing the very, very few issues it had makes me significantly less interested. Moreover, how hard is it in 2019 to make something cross-platform? If GameMaker can't make games easily work well across platforms, then maybe GameMaker isn't your gig.
