What app are you mainly using on Steam Deck / Desktop Linux to manage games from other sources?
Heroic + Steam + SteamGridDB!

Heroic does such as good job of managing even third-party games (with the automatic download of the cover art etc.), then I add those as non-Steam games directly from Heroic. And if any art is missing, I can easily add it with SteamGridDB SGDBoop app!

You may be able to get it to work on desktop Linux too in offline mode by using SteamDeck=1 %command% as a Steam launch option for the game, which likely won't work for Windows since the Steam Deck is just a Linux machine.

Silly excuse from their community guy. But yeah it is because they want people to stay with Battle.net as well as purchase on new platforms (Steam now, Microsoft Store later on probably).
