Quoting: NezchanSo is this one actually designed with people who wear glasses in mind? As far as I can tell, every VR headset on the market so far treats that as an afterthought, which is weird given the sheer number of glasses-wearers, presumably even on the engineering teams.

From what I've heard the Vive always had enough room for glasses. I'm sure Valve will do the same with the Index.

I can confirm. My wife wears glasses, i head a vive running in my work for 2 months for testing, with a lot of ppl who wear glasses, there were no problems!

Quoting: ValckBetter, yes.
Much much better than that stuff from the 90s.

Quoting: ValckMore affordable, marginally.
Marginally? When the Vive came out it was like 800-900€/$. The WMR headsets are already being sold for 200$.

Yeah but the tech of the wmr-stuff is behind the vive and not as precise. I would never buy this downgrade.

can smbd explain to me, why to buy a sytem76-laptop and not just a casual lenovo or smth like this?
i mean, they donate to open source projects, thats fine. but is this the only reason to buy system76?

Quoting: skinnyrafHave we leapfrogged the year of Linux on the desktop and jumped straight into the year of Linux VR?

Well Linux-native VR titles (both OpenGL and Vulkan) worked for quite some time, we even maintain a list here: https://gitlab.com/yaomtc/VR-on-Linux

Now, Windows VR games are another story. So far, these are running fine for me (or have been a week ago):
- Beat Saber (is on the official Proton compatibility list)
- Star Trek: Bridge Crew
- Star Wars Droid Repair Bay
- Far Space VR
- Budget Cuts

I do intend to buy and test more games shortly, but it's looking *very* promising at the moment!

BUdget Cuts works fine for you? You tested it some levels or just the very entry of the game? I don't see any robots when i try to start the game and comparing it with the spcr.netlify.com-database i am not the only one.

Hot on the heels of the latest release of the Vulkan API, DXVK 0.90 is now out with Stream Output support

Yeah! Now i only have to wait till this get implemented in Proton, and than i can finally play a whole bunch of vr-games under linux. like gorn, holopoint, budget cuts.... dreams really come true!

Valve have updated the Beta of Steam Play which fixes VR games, fullscreen improvements and more

i see no change in VR since the new proton. Games that ran before are still running, games that didn't start before now don't start either. Would be interesting, if someone has other experiences.
