Looks like we may see Steam properly on Chrome OS by the end of 2021

Quoting: RoosterI would be interested to know, why don't they use a Docker-like container instead of VM? Seems to me like quite a big waste of resources to use a full fledged VM.
It is more akin to a docker container than a VM

I am still having the major graphical corruption with mesa, even with the modern toolchain build, in the old builds if you started with --software-ui you could at least play the game, switch doesn't seem to fix it on the new build

Quoting: appetrosyanWhy, Zenimax?

I still can't figure out: why are they so actively anti-linux. Yes it constitutes a minority among gamers, still, wouldn't explain why aren't they publishing games that already have tested Linux support.

The only logical explanation would be a contract with Microsoft, but then why aren't they pioneering DX12 and blatantly supporting Vulkan.

Boiling Steam did an interview with Tim Basset [External Link], he seems to paint it not so much of a resentment, but lack of knowledge

Epic Games looking to make Vulkan the default API for Linux games in Unreal Engine

Quoting: ShabbyXI wonder why they wouldn't make it the default on windows either. That will make not only their vulkan renderer more stable (more people get to test it), but also damage directx considerably, which is nice.
Politics - there are microsoft published titles using UE4 (and probably DX12) - by all means they'll make vulkan a windows option, but I'd bet these politics will keep it not the default

does GOL have a one off donation system, as opposed to monthly patreon. Given my real life monetary situation, continual donation wouldn't be something I'd be interested in, but a one off donation would be possible at certain times.

Didn't they have a Beta of their Minecraft Story, and it never got publicly released?

A new radeonsi (Mesa) patch should fix issues in many games for AMD GPU owners
22 Jan 2017 at 4:24 am UTC

Quoting: XicronicDon't count on it. I know there's a lot of hype and excitement around AMD, but my "upgrade" from a 660 Ti to an RX 480 is regression in half the games I want to play, and a headache in plenty of others. The situation may change now that they can focus on optimizations rather than just getting games to run at all, but for the foreseeable future NVIDIA is still a much better choice.
Went from a GTX 660 to an R9 Fury Nano - the drivers have been great, the performance has been great and I am very happy. Are you sure you got all the bits in place?

Quoting: ziabiceLiam, do you know if there will be a new point release after Mesa 13.0.3 including this bugfix or we should expect it directly into Mesa 17?
If it's in mesa-git today, then it wont be in 17.0 (the next release) as it has already branched, unless they deem it an important enough fix

The ability to add a non empty library folder would be a nice addition too
