Speculation: It's looking like Rocket League may finally arrive on Linux in September

Quoting: HoriI don't think it won't have cross-platform multiplayer... they said that they would allow even console players to play together with PC users if it was allowed by the console companies, IIRC...
It is allowed. Consoles players are playing alongside Windows players. Don't know if Xbox plays with PlayStation, but they both play with Windows.

Of course it matters, to any game developer at least. It shows how important it is to build 64bit binaries.
I thought it was a no-brainer really. Especially on gnu/linux systems.

Dear Valve and Steam Machines OEMs, you have it all wrong

I almost wish Microsoft to pull that stunt Gabe Newell and Tim Sweeney afraid of and start to close Windows more and more. That fear what got SteamOS going in the first place. But it obviously won't happen and Valve will continue to be in their comfort zone on Windows without much competition. I just hope the initial boost that got us at a better place will improve on its own without Valve.

Who's exactly the target audience for Steam machines? Windows people? Since, I assume, most of them games on their desktop machines, I don't see why would they change from "all-in-one" desktop to "games-centric" one, Windows or SteamOS. Console gamers? Maybe they are, but that price point... Which is why I agree with the article that price should be at least somewhat competitive with console market. PC market is desktop-centric, which is why Steam machines should be competing with consoles users, who's accustomed with using console mostly for gaming. I don't see the point in switching to SteamOS neither from PC/Win nor from PC/Linux, so it shouldn't be about that.
