Google's game streaming platform Project Stream is built on Linux and Vulkan

Interesting that the push to linux gaming will come from cloud streaming.
I guess, in the end money talks and those game cloud streaming services probably will be a bigger income for publishers than trying to sell to linux gamers directly.

Not easy to find good shoot'm'ups on linux? Then you haven't been looking!
skyforce (both versions) is excellent, sterreden is frustratingly good, syder arcade is short but nice, etc.

This is good news for Feral, did they react to this mac-vulkan port yet? Will they drop metal on mac and go vulkan only, it would make great sense for them.

Fantastic looking shoot 'em up 'Sky Force Reloaded' releases for Linux in two days

one of the best shoot'm'ups available on Linux. If you love the genre and would like one that isn't retro themed, this is a must-have!

Here's another way to look at the Linux market share on Steam

Quoting: Purple Library GuyIt weirds me out that with the thousands of games around, many of them really good, the statistics can be pulled around so much by one or two top-selling games. Clearly everyone's buying the top game because everyone else is buying the top game, not because it's one they will intrinsically find fun. The mindset unsettles me.
marketing, those AAA games have so much more budget for advertising, nothing more, nothing less.

Some thoughts on Swim Out, a relaxing puzzle experience

It's a nice sweet game, i tested it for them on SteamOS before release and it worked near perfectly. Very similar to the Hitman puzzle game, so if you liked that game, you'll like this one too. On top of that, it's dirt cheap.

The Witcher 3 didn't come to Linux likely as a result of the user-backlash from The Witcher 2

How is this any different for when a bad release is done on another platform? Do i need to remind you of Batman? The last instalment on PC was so horrid in performance, a big backlash happened there, that the publisher retracted the game and if i'm not mistaken it is still not available on the platform. Are they never going to release for (win-)PC again now?
They released the Witcher2 game while it was poorly tested and of story, you can't justify that. It's not as if it was a 0day release, so they could have taken a few weeks extra to release it with the performance fixing patches included.

Not that i agree with hate campaigns etc. against the publishers. We are (or supposed to be) decent human beings, you can communicate in a polite way.

The big SteamOS update that drops AMDGPU-PRO in favour of Mesa has left beta

I'm fully steamified, running SteamOS (on a self-build pc ofcourse), steam controller(s) and steam link. I think SteamOS is great for the pure gaming experience. A true desktop OS is better and more complete if you want to tinker a lot. But as i want to just play games without any effort (i already spend way to much time @work as a linux admin with fixing things), SteamOS has been a really great fit. Sometimes i get worried about Valve and their commitment to SteamOS but then they release a major update and i'm happy again. Really, how can you not be? Never in my gaming history have i ever collected so many (great! & original) games, and i'm playing them on Linux.

The only real problem i have is that it seems as if Valve does not have a lot of QC, Steam client updates are frequent and almost always something suddenly doesn't work properly anymore. Last week, my steam controller didn't work properly when connected by usb cable (worked fine wireless), every now and then steam link problems pop up (i hate those), and so on. They get fixed rather quickly though (mostly the next day), but still, it puts a bummer on the limited down/play-time i have.
