It seems like an interesting editor until you start looking into it;
- AI everywhere
- Remote development runs through their servers instead of doing something sensible like using a direct ssh connection between client and host
i mean vscode is also getting infected with AI everywhere, but atleast remote dev doesn't run though a 3rd party server (yet)

Quoting: EriHow do you know you are hunting your clone and not the other way around? What if you are the clone? Kill the OG, escape from the lunatic who made you, replace him and live OG's life, profit.I'm 99% sure that is the "twist" that will be revealed at the end for the supposed "oooh" moment

But be that as it may, that's not what I'm talking about - I'm talking about technology displacing workers, and said workers being upset about it.
From my point of view, most use cases currently is for art "AI" is for projects that would never exist if not for the technology. If at any point it stops being horribly bad it may cost some ( or even most ) artists their livelihood, and it will be inconvenient for them to find another income source - but they will.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI'm sure mechanized farming has it's issues, as do cars (personal injuries, environmental impact, ...).Quoting: Guppyevery new teknologi that comes along encounters this, imagine if farm workers had the internet to voice their dismay on back when tractors first appeared:Believe it or not, the whole mechanized agriculture model is still controversial. Lot of juries are out about the net impact there, which is still creating slums, eroding soil, destroying rural communities and associated with overuse of chemicals to this day.
"built on the backs of real farm workers!"
"Look at all the nicks and dings in those tractor harvested potatoes!"
etc..
Still the farm workers found other employment, and the world kept turning.
And yeah the "AI" is coming for my job too as a programmer - it will either be a miserable failure or I'll find other employment. The world will keep on spinning. ;)
So that's not necessarily a reassuring analogy.

Quoting: rgvilla1981Blasphemous. Great game to play on deck. Plus it is linux native. While it does seem to be given the 'first class citizen' treatment in terms of support it really isn't navtive, it runs through proton ( valves 'tuned' wine branch )
The state of optimus-manager explained by its developer

And atleast with ubuntu 20.2 there is no way to enable nvidia-powerd so I'm stuck at max 80W of the 130W the card can provide :| (*)
Linux has come a long way in terms of ease of use in the last 30 years, but laptops gfx and wifi is one of the areas that is still kinda of ifffy
Edit:
*) immediately after posting this I thought of something and found a way to make it work -ish. It now has a max power draw of 115W, which IIRC is below what it should be able to do - but it's (hopefully) better performance than 80W

Quoting: nwildner[...]With Legion 5 pro the only way to actually make it work ( for me atleast ) is to run it with with dGPU only, any other configuration results in black screens :|
My current Laptop does not have the BIOS option to set the dGPU only, but I know Lenovo Legion allows it.
The part that I disagree is with the fact that dGPUs don't scale down power on laptops and that is untrue. Here are some tests with optimus-manager set to "Nvidia"(power cord plugged)

Won't know if it actually works for a bit as I'm not the one hosting our multiplayer play through :)

In act3 currently having a blast tbh must've sunk 100+ hours into the game :D
Outside of inventory mangement and the absolutely horrible camera, my main gripe so far is that every cutscene plays at ~12 fps :|
I been thinking about trying a different rendering engine, what's the launch parameter for dx? you can use --vulcan for the vulcan one but I've not been able to find one for dx? and vulcan is the default on Linux I think ( well hope, or I've been sitting there waiting for it to constantly recompile the vulcan shaders for no good reason xD )
