Awesome! I'm a huge fan of the Master System game, and this remake looks simply spectacular. Didn't think we'd see the Linux version quite so soon!

FX-8350 minimum? Oh dear.

Crossing my fingers that Ryzen lives up to the hype. It's really sad to see that AMD CPUs are no longer "good enough" for gaming.

Quoting: jordicomaSorry, but I need a working prototype to believe that is comming.
Sadly we have seen to many companies that promised linux version only to get the money, and we had never got anything.
But I think that we can have a hight hope for this (hopefully).
I backed this on Kickstarter, so I can confirm that at the very least the "Toybox" alpha-demo-thing has been released for Linux and works very well. It runs on the Unity engine.

Really liked the look of this when it first came out, looking forward to giving it a try.

That trailer was superb. I hope the game can live up to that promise. Nicalis have a great track record as a publisher, so the fact that they're backing this makes me optimistic.

Looks like there'll be some cameos in this too. Plague Knight from Shovel Knight and Dr. Fetus from Meat Boy, according to the Kickstarter page.

This is awesome! So glad it's really happening.

Square Enix have been picking up the pace with their SteamOS support, but until now it'd been things I already owned. I'm looking forward to this one actually counting as a Linux sale for me. :)

Have you tried 'Life of Pixel'? A very cool love letter to retro gaming

I can't recommend this myself. The music and visuals are on point, but the actual platform mechanics are bad. Serious issues with the physics, collision weirdness and your character has a fixed jump height... it was not enjoyable.

Also, and this is a pet peeve of mine: it mixes resolutions. The graphics are drawn at a fixed low resolution, but the sprites move freely without being snapped to that grid. It just looks ugly and breaks the aesthetic. It's particularly galling to see this in a game that tries to stay true to the capabilities of specific retro computers/consoles.

Sorry to be a downer... I really wanted to like this game!
