It still lacks tons of content, especially in the midgame. There isn't really that much to do, only useless clicking when you are trying to manage stuff, that should have been automated in the first place.

I don't know how Runesoft/Epic, but Funatic, the original developer of Cultures released their latest title, Valhalla Hills, on Linux. Shame that Valhalla Hills weren't as deep as Cultures and sucked a bit.

Quoting: LeopardI played just vanilla, no mods. But Banished is not a glaring example of depth. In fact, it seems to be rather dull as well.Quoting: ColomboShame about the lack of depth. I am itching for some good city builder, I even wishlisted this, but considering what you wrote, I will probably wait for some sale.Banished is what Linux lacks.

Cultures series is great! I just wish the Runesoft made some small changes and re-released it. The graphics is great, with stylization that does not age (maybe updated models), but I would like more nations with differences (different tech tree) and also less resource interdependence (i.e., if each resource created tech subtree with higher level buildings requiring any two resources, it would be better, i.e., if houses could be made with wood and with upgraded either stone or clay for second level and with the second for second level and so), so you could build limited civ, this could also may make bigger deal of trading.

Quoting: GuestYes, there's a Settlers clone (Hearthlands) currently being developped. Seems the contrary : much deeper but not on par technically.I am off put by Hearthlands graphics. It seems that there is something off. I am also on edge regarding the system. I would need demo to try it out.
The Settlers used to work on a 7.14Mhz Amiga computer, great memories :)
Runesoft (Epic) ported Northland but their ports were kinda lost as at that time, the marke was small and compatibilty, drivers and distribution complicated...

Personally, I think that the old Duke Nukem and Blood are closer to Half-Life than to Painkiller.

I would be a bit negative here.
Shadow warrior was from my point boring linear shooter. I expected interesting maps as in old Shadow Warrior (which, if I remember, was similar to Duke Nukem with a lot of interesting scenery, interactivity and hidden locations), but maps were too linear and quite boring. The same could be said about weapons, which provided just common stuff (SMG, shotgun) and lacked big bad things, but still the most used weapon was katana, which forced usage of one special move which healed DMG (and thus it was the most efficient to just spam this as any DMG was instantly healed, plus it did quite a lot of DMG even to bullet sponges).
As for enemies, they were quite boring, not only that most enemies just teleported on you in specific locations (so you didn't have an alternative way to attack them or avoid them), but I to this day I can remember only two types of enemies, standard daemon and daemon with shield (+ humans, which for some reason were later bullet sponges as well).
Killing the same enemy again and again started to be quite boring, especially when provided tools did not changed.
But I think the same about the newest Bioshock, while location, provided tools and part of story was relatively interesting, it turned into boring linear game due to pure repetition of these things without proper pacing (which was better in games like Deus Ex, where one could stop and talk again before shooting everything)

Quoting: slaapliedjeI did just click install with gog installer... and when it run (Constructor), it crashed my PC. I still had to muck around with config files to make it run properly. So no, I don't see the benefit. Especially when most games run with default dosbox setting anyway and that seems to be what GoG provides.Quoting: Sir_DiealotWhether it's Dosbox on Linux or Dosbox in Windows, where's the difference? If the DOS-Version is available you can play it anywhere DOSbox is available. I wish GOG would just label DOS as platform and provide it at most with a sane config instead of installers and whatnot. The only real difference I guess is that now you can just click 'Install' on Steam / Gog, instead of having to muck around with config files. I wish we'd get a proper port of the Windows versions of X-Wing, since they have slightly nicer graphics.

All characters had some standard things you could ask, NAME, HELLO, HEALTH, JOB, BYE. Then each had 2 specific things to ask, with some special characters knowing 3 or 4.Even I don't talk to people like that.
