Take a look at 'The Skirmisher' another new unit coming to XCOM 2's War of the Chosen expansion

Quoting: JanneI'm a little concerned about game balance to be honest. Alien Hunters really broke that enough that I avoid playing with that DLC.
Do you mean in the player's favor, or against the player? I actually own Alien Hunters from the expansion pass but haven't gotten around to playing with it yet, heh.
Both, really. The game becomes really random; too much so for my taste. The random appearances by the three supervillains completely ruin the mission, and when they don't, the new weapons are overpowered and makes things too easy.

Quoting: PhiladelphusThis sounds so cool, but these guys sound so powerful I'm afraid to see what new things we're going to be going up against to justify having them! :D

Micro Machines World Series released with day-1 Linux support, it’s brilliant

Quoting: JanneIs it worth it if you only play single-player? And how does it compare to that other combat racing game you wrote about (forgot the name?)
Well the AI has given me a good run for my money so still worth it.

Compared with the other game I wrote about recently (the name evades me) the choice is easy: micro machines.
Rocket League is what I was thinking of. Not quite the same kind of game perhaps.

Edit: Thinking of Rocket League.

'HOOK' is an extremely minimalistic but addictive puzzler that I wholeheartedly recommend

Um, not for me. Played through the Kongregate version now. There's just no challenge; you can walk through the levels in less than ten minutes. The only trick is getting the timing right for a few levels, but that feels less like a puzzle and more like a simple reaction game.

The visual design is great. I just wish there was more of an actual, well, _puzzle_ to it.

This is one of my all-time favourite games. Adventure games age much better than most other games, and this one especially should be just as good now as when it was released.

Cities: Skylines - Mass Transit DLC announced, adding more transport possibilities

I rather like the game. It doesn't have that "gotta play it right now!" draw; but I often open it just to putter about with my little city for a while, and to my own surprise it's been several hours without me realizing it. And it's really cool to zoom way in on a single busy street or intersection and click around to see what people are doing and where they're going.

The one game mechanic I'm missing in the base game is really large-scale information about people flows. It would be great if you could get an arrow overlay of traffic (people, cargo) flow between districts. Would make planning much easier.

I also wish there was a way to create cities that are less, well, car-bound. I suspect that recreating a place like Stockholm would basically be impossible since too many avatars would insist on driving and create permanent gridlock in the old parts of town.

Some thoughts on the Shadowrun series

The first instalment was fun but felt a little railroady. Dragonfall was much better, with a great story arc and fleshed-out characters. That one really feels a little like playing the tabletop RPG. One of my favourite games for the past couple of years. I've yet to start Hong Kong, since I'm busy with other games.

Long War 2 now available for XCOM 2 for free, but not for Linux yet

I'm still slowly running through the original campaign. I haven't even played with the Alien Hunters DLC yet. Please take your time - I'd like a bit of time to try out Cities Skylines before I plunge into another, even longer, XCOM2 campaign :)
