Alright, you got me! :woot:
Thank you very much for the advise!

Is it worth it, it is fun?

Quoting: Liam DaweAll ProtonDB reports are from before this Proton Experimental update. As the article states, it worked fine on NVIDIA here.
Good to know, thank you! Anyway, if you don't own a time machine you can't have played really long . Would be great to know if this run *really* flawlessly, without crashes and with stable multiplayer. If this is *really* the case I could maybe justify the (heavy!) price tag.

Great news, thanks alot!

Edit: Uhm... quite expensive  ... too much for me for Proton Experimental. Proton DB shows mixed reviews, but "gold" status. Some problems with stability... mhmmm... I think I'll wait a little bit longer.

I'm now a true convert after using a Vertical Mouse

I'm using a vertical mouse and a tenkeyless mechanical keyboard for years now, I've switched after tennis elbow like (painful!) problems and never looked back. It helped me a lot and I would recommend testing this setup for everyone facing similar problems. Hardware ergonomics matters, especially when you get older and the countless hours in front of your PC sums up! :woot:

Factorio to get a big expansion pack now the full game is done, developer jobs going

Yes, please!!! If they can keep the quality of the main game this will be an instant buy. I would like to see... more of everything! :-)

Eat and destroy stars in Stellaris: Nemesis and become the endgame crisis

Very interesting, didn't ever use or even look into the workshop (for multiplayer purposes I prefer the vanilla experience most of the time). Could be worth a try next time I have time for a new round... Thanks for the tip!

Thanks a lot! What a shame they focus on new expansions instead of improving (and fixing!) the base game and the old content first. I understand the business case here, but sadly this is not for me. The core seems broken by design.

How is the actual state of the game? Does the "old" crises now work flawlessly? What about the many, many bugs and the overall game performance (especially in large galaxies)? Even more interesting - desyncs in multiplayer, are they fixed? I really liked the game, but before I buy DLC after DLC the old content (and the base game!) need to be fixed...

Google shutting their internal game dev studios, focusing directly on Stadia tech

The thing is, it's another nail in the coffin of the idea Google sold it all on originally.
This! I like Stadia so far - but Google has definitely a trust problem. Such moves don't make it better at all. For a service where I loose absolutely everything if it shuts down trust seems very important to me. So I get uncertain more and more if I should invest further in the platform. What a shame.

Stadia has games free to try this weekend for Stadia Pro, 'Project Hailstorm' is teased

Quoting: spayder26Stadia, where you pay full retail price to rent games until they shut down, and where an expensive subscription gives you trials and 30 cheap games (which between old, bad, and indie ones, are worth of 20 bucks as a whole on sale).

Still not getting their value proposition against using your own games in services like shadow.tech
you pay full retail price -> there are sales, too. You can pay full retail prices on Steam, too!

until they shut down -> How many PAID services Google did really shut down in the past (PAID is important here)? Unlikely - but what happens if Valve shut down Steam? This is a problem for all DRM- or "plattform-protected" games. So, what is an "own game"? If it isn't open source, you really don't "own" it at all. Even GOG games can be a problem if the developer stops supporting them (missing libraries, no support for modern OS, and so on).

an expensive subscription -> What are you expecting? A free "AAA" title each month? The subscription gives you 4K, better sound and more sale options (so it's not just for the free games).

The value? For me:
- convenience (no downloads, no patches, games start instantly)
- play on TV, any gaming monitor or even on the tablet
- cheating (nearly) impossible
- no expensive gaming hardware required, little (and not so costly) risk of hardware-failures
- it just works, instantly and without any problems

I can understand this isn't a model for everyone. But I can't understand the hate - and I don't believe you can't see any benefits!
