The new GOG profile system is out, looks quite slick

If any of us had downloaded any maps or mods, you could link it in the profiles so that you could download and install/configure them before joining the match.
I think I'll be using the GOG profile the same way.

Quoting: KimyrielleI have zero need for profiles. I have no idea why people would even be interested in what games I am playing for how long. But I guess we're living in a time when people post Facebook status updates like "9am: Went to the grocery and bought yogurt", and believe the rest of the world finds that somehow interesting, so it doesn't even surprise me.A long time ago, I use to use Xfire profiles to coordinate games with friends and family to play UT99 online. It would show that I was online playing it and I would post the IP and/or server name, all from the browser. This was especially helpful for quick pick up games with my cousins who were in college at the time.
On the other hand, I -could- appreciate Galaxy on Linux. While I agree with others that it's not strictly needed, I can at least see the value in an app that lets me organize and download my purchases in a convenient fashion.

Quoting: ShmerlGalaxy is something Steam users probably expect, but that's not what most GOG users care about. Personally, I'm not going to use their client even if they provide it, unless it will be open source or community will make an open source alternative. This! Forever!

I want to show these guys some support but I do not use Steam. I noticed that some games have a download option with the size showing but when I went to check out I got this message
"Depending on the game purchased, you will receive either a Steam key or a download link after payment is complete"
Are the games with the download feature solid and with no need for Steam?

I think GOG did not make the right move by making that client. They should have made their "client" browser based - friends list/chat/game, list games owned - list game being played (optional) and call it a day.

Quoting: Perkeleen_VittupääI hope Galaxy crashes and burns. Not interested in a client for Linux unless it's as simple as the itch.io client. Let me buy and install my games and get out of my way.Quoting: Guesti just realized that dark forces is on linux on GOG and i have it,that takes care of that lolYep, will certainly purchase, amongst probably about a hundred other titles on GOG, when Galaxy for Linux is out..

Man. I would love to revisit these games on Linux. These were some of the games that made it a bit hard to walk away from Windows 98 SE all those years ago. I ended them and moved on to UT99 on Linux and never looked back.
RetroArch to gain a feature to improve input latency in the next release

Many people try to get me to use RetroArch but it seems to be hit or miss too often with the ROMs I play. Mednafen while limited is perfect. With the frontend Mednaffe it's even better.
