About 2 years ago, I was buying Core i5 CPUs for work, and after the first few it dawned on me that Intel were locking them to No. Threads = No. Cores, so you buy a 4 core Core i5 and you don't get 4 cores / 8 threads which I'd been expecting. Pretty unhappy with Intel about that. The alternatives were pay a big chunk more for Core i7, or jump ship to AMD FX processor (8 cores ~ 8 threads) for *less* money than a Core i5.

So, I jumped ship and now 70% of the PCs at work are running AMD FX processors.

Sure, single core performance is better at a given clock-speed with Intel chips, but AMD makes the best value processors, and for multi-core work, AMD FX are pretty effective.

Hoping AMD get "back on top" with their new Ryzen.

Yes, it is a shame about LoG2 and not bothering to release for Linux. I got it on GOG (DRM free) for Windows, and have played it under Wine, but as a paying customer this is not what I want to do.

Another similar indie title, The Banner Saga - has a Linux version on Steam and GOG. But the follow-up The Banner Saga 2 - is out on Windows and Mac, but not Linux :(

My own status when it comes to Windows games / Linux games....

If I *really* want the game and it is only on Windows, then if the price is good enough, I'll get it. Noting that ideally I get the Windows game DRM free, so I don't have to mess around with Steam client under Wine.
(Recently bought Skyrim: Legendary Edition for £4.24 - steam key for Windows)

If I *really* want the game, but the price is high (e.g. The Witcher 3 GOTY at £20.99 on sale) then I will hold off buying it, until either the Windows version is really cheap or they get around to releasing the Linux version.

Finally, if the game is on Linux then I'm happier to spend more money to get it. So, if that Witcher 3 GOTY was £20.99 AND on Linux - No problem, I'd buy it immediately.

My choice is for Witcher 3.

However my top few choices also include:
Skyrim, DOOM, Shadow Warrior 2

A bit further down, but still near the top of my list:
All the Fallouts, Dragon's Dogma, Watch Dogs 2, Dragon Age, Oblivion, Dishonored I+II

Noting that I already own DOOM, and I'm suffering to play it under Windows.
Also, I'm expecting SW2 will be on its way to Linux soon. (Please hurry the F up)

Well, good to know what that teaser was about. Shame that my guess was incorrect (i.e. NWN Enhanced Edition release). Agreeing with Liam, it's a bit soon for another sale. It'll be yet another - the January sale - a couple of weeks after this one.

As someone who follows sales a lot, there aren't many discounts any different to previous discounts - "Same old, same old"

Crypt of the Necrodancer 'DRM free' - currently on GOG for £3.69 (66% off).
- I bought the Steam key version from Steam for £2.74 a couple of weeks ago (75% off).

If there were sufficient discounts on these games, I'd buy them (discounts not good enough for me):

Darkest Dungeon, Soma, Wasteland 2

Also, while observing the discount level on GOG, and sharing my observations:

Enter the Gungeon 'DRM free' - currently on GOG for £9.89 (10% off)
- That game was 50% off in recent sales on Steam.

Finishing off with... I'd be all over Witcher 3 and Shadow Warrior 2 .... if the Linux ports were out.

I would hazard a guess, based on what people have observed so far, that there will be released a new Enhanced Edition version of Neverwinter Nights (and maybe NWN II as well). Earlier this year Beamdog released Enhanced versions of Baldur's Gate, BG2, and Icewind Dale. Noting that when the enhanced versions of the BG1, BG2, IWD games came out, they made very amenable discounts to existing owners of the older games on GOG ( and so I grabbed them =P ).

Thing is, like a couple of others who've mentioned in this thread, I haven't played (or even watched youtube game-play videos) sufficient number of the 2016 releases to be able to make comprehensive nominations.

Owing to being a frugal character, I buy stuff when it is really cheap on sales. So unless it is a brand new, top AAA game that has been 75% off in a sale, then it is doubtful to be in my collection.

Most of my gaming this year has been with "Dying Light: The Following Enhanced Edition (2015)", "FTL: Faster Than Light (2012)", "Serious Sam 3: BFE (2012)", "Mad Max (2016)", "Crypt of the Necrodancer (2015)", "Rocket League (2016)", "Sky Force Anniversary (2015)", "Chaos Reborn (2015)", "Overlord (2016)", "Space Run (2014)", "Desktop Dungeons (2014)", "Iron Snout (2016)", and plenty of other odds and ends.

Although I own "Alien Isolation (2015)", "The Talos Principle (2015)", "Tomb Raider (2016)", "Bioshock Infinite (2015)", "Company of Heroes 2 (2015)", "Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War II Retribution (2016)", "Pillars of Eternity (2015)" and plenty of others (some of which are very recent), I've never played them so I can't really make any comments on those titles.

I take my time over stuff. I've put over 100 hours into Dying Light and Mad Max this year, and nearly that into FTL and Serious Sam 3. Also, games I'd nominate for my own "game of the year" awards, are not necessarily games that have been released this year.

Just decided to purchase GRID Autosport direct from Steam. It is 75% off (£6.24) at the moment. Buying on a Linux pc, naturally.

Also picked up indie game "The Swapper" (for Linux) on Steam - It is currently 81% off (£2.27).

Future purchases "when they get ported to Linux".... Witcher 3 GOTY, Shadow Warrior 2 - I'm holding back on purchasing these until the Linux version is out. Tempted by XCOM 2, Tyranny, Deus Ex: MD - but maybe at some point in the future.

Recently finished "Mad Max" which is on the sales now. It worked really well on my Linux system. Good port.
