The Humble Jumbo Bundle 12 is out with a couple of Linux games

I have played Super House of the Dead Ninjas on Steam Play/Proton prior to this bundle, and it was working great for me. Not only that, but I really liked it as an action platformer. Certainly think that the lowest tier of the bundle is worth grabbing.

7 Days to Die now has an experimental build available for Alpha 17, it's a huge difference

Does anyone have familiarity of jumping around on versions of 7DTD ? I quite like the idea of trying out the new experimental build but don't necessarily want to lose my current game state on the stable build.

Looking at the relevant directories on my system, it looks like this is where the Save Games sit:

 ~/.local/share/7DaysToDie/

And then my main (stable) game application files are here (this is a non-default location for the Steam Library Folder):

 /home/games/steam/steamapps/common/7\ Days\ To\ Die

Would you suggest copying/archiving both of those and then installing the experimental? If I want to restore the stable version, I'd delete and over-write those folders with the stable copies?

Feral Interactive are teasing a new Linux port, time to start guessing

I wonder if this means that the next time Feral announces a Requestinator then they might have another title sitting in the pipeline.

As much as the Feral Radar clue is looking 100% for SotTR - I still remember the time that it looked like another clue was 100% Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.

Quoting: stretch611I can barely imagine what insignificant portion you have played... (Or how did you get so wealthy to afford them all and have the time to play them :D )

Slightly joking - My "game" is online bargain hunting (as well as picking up freebies). But, more recently I have slowed down. My favourite recent FREE pick-up was Shadow Warrior 2 - It was zero cost on GOG (for a couple of days) and adamhm put together a nice WINE script to get this Windows title easily running on Linux.

Decided to load up my Humble games Wishlist, and of the 69 titles wishlisted, I have needed to remove 11 of them due to purchase in the last few months. Good to keep one's housekeeping up to date ;)

Thinking to get Observer (in the Dystopian bundle) and Conarium (in the store sale). After I have bought 1 more game, I'll own 1.5k titles on Steam.

EDIT: Just noticed that Turok is incorrectly listed on Humble store as Windows only (recently ported to Linux).

Future titles:

Metro: Exodus
Cyberpunk 2077
Doom Eternal
Wasteland 3
Phoenix Point
Witchfire
Dying Light 2

Current titles:

Shadow of the Tomb Raider
The Elder Scrolls Online
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War
Divinity: Original Sin 2
Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Hitman 2
Wolfenstein 2
(Into The Breach)

Older titles:

The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
Fallout 4
The Witcher 3
GTA V

I can fairly safely say, I'd purchase any of these titles as soon as a Linux version was available. I put brackets around "Into The Breach" because I'm expecting the original studio, Subset Games, will build for Linux, and I'm certainly hoping that Techland builds Dying Light 2 for Linux too.

Reports: Valve making their own VR HMD and apparently a new VR Half-Life

I've tried out a full range of VR headsets, and here are my thoughts on VR tech:

Yes, you require a decent GPU to get the required level of performance, e.g. GTX 1080 or better (or a PS4 Pro console or equivalent)

I find them somewhat uncomfortable, and I wouldn't want to wear one for gaming for longer than 30 minutes at a time.

They are an interesting and different experience from regular gaming, that is very immersive.

Both the cost and the lack of appeal hinders me from making a purchase.

Lack of appeal:
- I anticipate that I wouldn't use it much.
- There aren't many compelling, quality games that I'd want to play on it.
- I'd only want to use it in short stretches, e.g. 30 minutes at a time.

On top of that, as already mentioned, it is good to have a VR "space" - i.e. dedicated room for moving around, rather than sitting at a regular desk doing VR.

For the miniscule amount of losses, instead see the gains...

Meanwhile, I have worked in a technical role in the games industry for 10 years - Indie and massive corporation.

Reasserting the fact that it was hard to find high-calibre staff with these credentials: Lead Unity programmer, DevOps/Server programmer, Business Intelligence/Data Scientist expert. Many people interviewed were not suitable candidates, due to inexperience or lack of ability (i.e. Couldn't complete the on-boarding tests). Ever tried applying to Google? ;)

There seem to be a number of overly-upset Linux gamers on here, with respect to this game's change of position.

It has been mentioned in comments numerous times on GOL website about the problems of making payments supporting kickstarter developments. You support a kickstarter, you are risking your money that you won't get what was offered. Leading on from this - What is the status with receiving refunds? I take it that many of the people affected have requested a refund and have got it? Getting a refund at least means you haven't lost out on this gamble.

There can be loads of reasons for status changes like this. Some reasons are more believable than others. Sure, if the game is going to also come to XBOX then the company needs to divert internal production resources to cope with that profit-making platform. Although I have no love of Microsoft, I wouldn't accuse them of preventing a Linux release, unless there is real evidence to show it.

Having worked in the gaming industry myself, I know that high-quality developers are limited resources. Developers get lots of pressure and stress, trying to meet release deadlines, tackling bugs and unexpected behaviour of gaming engines, e.g. Unity or Unreal. A company could lose a key member of programming staff, and then suddenly they don't have that Linux resource any more (and stop producing Linux builds).

Be thankful that this Studio publicly shared the status of the Linux release, and presumably are giving out refunds, and the fact that Linux has SO MANY games, that one game missing is no big deal.

It is sad that this has happened. Good that the game studio has made the press release, rather than hiding it.

Meanwhile in my own space, I have 143 games in my Steam Wishlist, and rather than spend money on a non-Linux title, I can spend it on one of those others instead. My cash resources are not infinite ;)
