One thing I am wondering here is about Cory Doctorows article about "The coming war on general purpose computing".
We don't know how to build a general-purpose computer that is capable of running any program except for some program that we don't like, is prohibited by law, or which loses us money. The closest approximation that we have to this is a computer with spyware: a computer on which remote parties set policies without the computer user's knowledge, or over the objection of the computer's owner. Digital rights management always converges on malware. This outright claims that the problems porting between systems are only because of the software on propriety hardware is designed to make it hard. I trust Cory Doctorow, but he isn't a game developer. Is there more to it than that?

I agree with your point.
I just want to add that there is a different angle on the "Only buy if it's on sale" thing.
I actually think a game can be worth full price and often is, but that doesn't change the fact that some people can't afford getting games at full price. Don't assume it's always a question of bad attitude, it can just as well be a matter of your life situation.

I tried it. I want to redo the rigging and animation of the bird! If I get the energy I might ask the creator if I can do it.

I wonder, if Linux gets too popular, won't that mean we need to watch out for viruses targeting Linux more?
Doesn't the IOT botnet that took out several ISPs show that out of date Linux installs might be as vulnerable as unpatched windows machines?

StarMade, the spaceship building sandbox has updated graphics

There were some changes that I didn't like, like making the planets dodecahedrons. Even if they technically have more surface area they feel smaller, because the horizon is so much closer, walking past the edges just kills the immersion. And they look even more unnatural than the flat planets did when you approach them.
And with the things I mentioned in my first paragraph, somewhere it got really more complex than I liked.
That said, I had my share of fun with the game for the price I paid for it back then. Though I feel I did pay quite a lot more with work, actively hunting and reporting bugs.
One thing I don't get is why use logic blocks. I would have gone for one logic block, and have a visual coding language, similar to Scratch that you edit through it. https://scratch.mit.edu [External Link]

Quoting: ObsidianBlkMy opinion, the game isn't perfect (yet, lol), but it's definitely worth the price for people who love building and survival.I bought the game way back before you had to make patterns in the reactors to be efficient, and before there were like fifty different ways to combine weapons systems.

I had a problem with my mouse automatically re-centering every time I crossed sectors. Made dog fights awful.
I wonder if that has been fixed?

EGOSOFT planning two new space simulation games, 'X Rebirth VR Edition' using Vulkan and also X4

I tried X rebirth with the expansions after the patch came out. It had some weird bug that turned off force full composition pipeline when you started it, so I got horrid screen tearing. Also, there were weird limitations in how you could configure the controls, so it turned out to be unplayable for me. And there were a lot of crashes.
But I asked for and got a refund, so all is well.

Civ VI Steam forum mods banning users for expressing Linux support

I got a thread deleted from Kerbal Space program forums for mentioning bittorrent. The warning PM said to not mention it because it is used for piracy. The thing is, it was when the update to official release came, and the first few days the servers were so swamped with download requests that most people couldn't download it. I just suggested they use bittorrent to keep server costs down and still have working and fast downloads, and I mentioned Humble Bundle as an example, because Humble Bundle has bittorrent as a download option. The post wasn't really related to piracy in any way, I didn't mention piracy, I didn't even hint at it. But the mod thought bittorrent = Piracy. Point is, forum mods are very twitchy when it comes to piracy.

Quoting: DamonLinuxPLSome times ago I get ban on CIV V steam forum because Im askinig about next patch and adding missing in Linux version additions language like Polish. Windows version have it all but Linux not. And Im asking about adding it and I added that even pirates are a better, because on torrents is a modified version on CIV5 for Linux with adds support for new languages like Polish and Russian - in the meantime the person who paid for the game (like me) have restrictions on Linux platform (on Windows is fine) for this words I got ban :DSomething that never is smart in an official game forums is mentioning piracy. They tend react very badly to that, regardless of context.
