The Linux 2017 GOTY Awards are now over, here's the winners

1) I don't use Steam and won't use it no matter what;
2) I heard games purchased in CIS region only valid in that region so unless you are living in this region I won't be able to give you your prize (or, more accurately, you won't be able to play the game I gave you).
How about other stores? Something that not restrict games by region… GOG? itch.io?

Quoting: Beamboom€10? Seems fine, but there are two "small" problems here:Quoting: Alm888And your bet is? (Like, what do you offer in case of loss)How about a game of winners choice, max €10, during Steam December Holiday sales?

Quoting: BeamboomLet's keep this on topic. Lara Craft(sic). I bet it will come in 2018. Do you bet against? I raise the pot if we say within the next two years. And your bet is? (Like, what do you offer in case of loss)
What say you?

Quoting: BeamboomHmmm - do I sense the potential for a bet in the air here now?... ;)Do you want a wager? I like the idea! My bet: I bet "The Witcher 3" will not be released on Linux, ever, but let's span the time frame by 2018), hence, I buy you a gift code for "The Witcher 3" on GOG IF it gets Linux version.
Your bet? :D

Quoting: BeamboomWith the first already been released for Linux and Feral also sitting on Rise Of for Mac plus hints of them preparing a Linux release, I'd say it's a bit more than just wishful thinking even though it's not officially confirmed yet.OK. I'll just leave this [External Link] here and walk away… ;)

No, seriously, I've got the hint.

Quoting: liamdaweI think you need to calm down a little.I'm trying, I'm truing! I'm TRYINGGGGG, GOGGAMN!!!! :D
No, seriously, I've got the hint.
Quoting: liamdaweHalf-Life 3 doesn't even exist, Squadron 42 hardly exists, Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't exist yet either.OK. But, just for the sake of clarification, you do know people have been seeing "indications" [External Link] for all those aforementioned games since who knows what time, don't you? And, Windows release speaks nothing about forthcoming Linux release (see "The Witcher 3", for example). Feral may drop hints however they want, this does not prove a thing (I do remember those "The Witcher 3 coming to SteamOS™" banners, thank you! ).
Rise of the Tomb Raider does exist, it's already released as a full game on Windows and people suspect it's a possible port from Feral, just look at the replies here. So yes, there are indications.

I can live with Feral being the "best" porter (ekkhhm…), but "Rise of the Tomb Raider"? Seriously?!
What's up with all this wishful thinking?! I mean, games got purged out of the lists just because they were not released in 2017, which means a year is important! And now this! "Rise of the Tomb Raider" should be excluded from the list entirely! Otherwise, why there were no "Half-Life 3", "Squadron 42", "Cyberpunk 2077" and other mythical games that may see a release in 2018 despite there being absolutely no indication they ever will be?

Quoting: ThorstenFolkersTo be honest it is the first time I heard about itch.ioI'd say itch.io is definitely worth a shot. Why choose when you can have your game everywhere? The more the merrier!
Looking into it right now! :)
Looks very interesting!
Please note that we are a new developer and only two guys working on this game right now.

Quoting: ThorstenFolkersWe rely on some Steam matchmaking features for the online Multiplayer and also copy-protection. So a DRM-free version is possible in the future but is not something we are working towards at the moment.Thank you for your response! Sadly, I'm not interested anymore and will pass. Good luck!
Thanks!
Thorsten

And what about distribution platforms?
Steam-exclusive? Or will there be DRM-free versions?
