Oh wow. Thanks for correcting me. Things have changed. I guess I should follow the OS driver updates for often. Kudos to AMD. Now only if they could improve the Non-Free driver as fast...

Quoting: Quote from Hamish+1, this is a site about the goodness of Linux gaming. Not bashing someone's beliefs. There's plenty of that going on in the world today, so lets trying and keep GoL out of it. I'm sorry about the past, Hamish.Quoting: Quote from n30p1r4t3And stop heckling the man (Hamish) just because you don't agree. He's not forcing anything on you.You are the last person I expected to come to my defence n30p1r4t3. :P
At any rate, let us not let the drama bog down this thread too much.

Quoting: Quote from FutureSutureThis is for the fglrx driver and not the radeon driver, correct? I intend to switch to AMD in the near future because of the ever improving radeon driver i.e. AMD's open source driver, something that Nvidia does not have. What? Nvidia has an open source driver that is better than AMD's right now in terms of performance. Hell, Nvidia is even HELPING make the OS driver better.

Quoting: Quote from adolsonI thought it was my system... so many games work now... MetroLL and SirYABH to name a few.Quoting: Quote from jose1711-i wonder whether they fix surgeon sim. i am not the only one (according to steam forums) who's getting a black window only..If you're using an NVIDIA card and a recent driver, it could be because of this: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/633706/linux/recent-drivers-cause-applications-to-hang-not-start-at-all-or-compilation-failures [External Link]
Try installing the terminal program called "terminator" and run Steam from there, and then launch the game. For some unknown reason, this often works. Hopefully the new drivers will come out soon... I downgraded to 304.x and haven't had issues since.

And stop heckling the man (Hamish) just because you don't agree. He's not forcing anything on you. Also to the "donate to EFF" comment, some people already support a number of charities/distributions/projects/GoL ;) to the point where donating to EFF doesn't make financial sense or serve a legitimate interest (most people don't know/care what EFF does).

Quoting: Quote from HamishFor some reason none of these tickle my fancy to any great degree; not a slight against the games themselves, but unless someone can clarify one to me to the point of building an interest I might just skip over this one, unless some of the later games added look more appealing to my own particular taste.I agree. Not interested. Haven't bought a bundle in ages...used to buy them left and right for no apparent reason.
[In general I have been skipping more and more Humble Bundle promotions lately...]
