The RPG 'Pathfinder: Kingmaker' is out with critical bugs in the Linux version
28 Sep 2018 at 10:12 am UTC
The developer might already have it running with a working savegame, and maybe not having any savegame at all is the problem. Once a savegame is created it might work.
I think it is good that they released it on Linux too, even with these bugs.
It shows they want to have it on Linux. Also that they are working hard to fix it is good too.
The problem is studio's need bigger testing audience that can really restart and play the game from beginning to finish.
I know exactly one developer that really plays his game from beginning to some end livestreaming and swearing. It takes him almost a month to run through it. The linux version is just an export for him.
And he has yet another update of his game (Fortresscraft Evolved, developer DJ Arcas/ProjectorGames).
The downside is that nightlies and beta builds are not exported, because to him, creating the export is easy, but to get two different platform versions correctly uploaded into steam is a big nuisance.
If anybody has a hint on how to automate that correctly for a primarily dotnet windows developer...

Quoting: liamdaweIt's not that easy...Quoting: recioalexOn the steam forums, 1 hour ago the devs said there will be a patch for this on 8 hours "We're not leaving the office until this is solved. "That does make them sound good, but let's remember issues like this are there because enough testing simply wasn't done. Frankly, loading it up once on Linux would have shown them the issues.

It's either java or javascript. And the two cultures hate eachother.
But in this case I bet it is java.

Lovecraftian horror 'Conarium' now has a Linux version on GOG

It's well worth it's money, it's a bit twisted and mind warping, like the frictional games, but less sickening so far. It's a habit of me to play games halfway. Probably because I never want a game to end.
Especially for the frictional games I wish I did not finish them. Because their stories usually are sickening and twisted.
Although I also witnessed the most sickening thing on GTA V, where I was expected to break someones knees as part of torture.

Quoting: g000hDid this game come to GOG as a Windows-only title at some earlier point? Or is this a simultaneous Windows/Linux release on GOG?Well, there is a 6 month difference in Linux release on steam and on Gog.

Valve to begin moderating game forums on Steam next week

That's great.
I already love the first "full nudity" game released on Steam.
But I also love them helping control the culture of other games. They actually now imply moderating is mandatory, which I think it should be. But handing that over to a 3rd ("independent") party is the best way, unless you already have a big moderation team.
And of course: you cannot make the same comments in a full nudity game forum as in a my little pony forum.

inXile will be 'all hands are on deck' to get the Linux version of The Bard's Tale IV out as soon as possible

They I removed some other games to make place, pressed install.
Then I remembered something, so I checked steamdb, and indeed, this was probably not the linux release, but a proton download. And no, steam did not say it was going to use proton.
I love proton, since I can play GTA V now, and it rocks.
But I really don't know what is native and what is proton. If I select linux native in my list, I get all games now :-(.

Quoting: liamdaweSo yeah the Linux version did indeed not make it out today. GOG have provided me with a key, so when it does release for Linux we can take a look.I was happily typing in the key, looked at my steam machine, and it said install.

And don't forget that cro-team has stutter-fixes for high end hardware that *only* works on linux because that was the only platform that allowed to peek into it.
