Funny how things work.
For their 15 years of operation they get together and spend a week trying to instal Linux on a 486 from source using a stage 1 gentoo :P

Come on that would be a fun video .

Valve may be working on a new version of the Steam Controller

Quoting: DerheimNice, I do like my steam controller. Awesome how customizable it is. Hopefully, if there is a new version, will be even more customizable (MORE BUTTONS PLEASE).
At least it looks like what I wanted the most in terms of buttons (which was at least 2 more grip buttons) was a common enough complaint that they are looking into it going by the patent documentation.

Quoting: dubigrasuIt is a bad dpad for sure, seems to be an agreement about this. I'm guessing that if someone is heavily into platforms, he's totally not gonna like the Steam Controller, no matter how useful is the left trackpad.
But I think that overall the left trackpad redeems itself through its multiple uses.
I'm playing a ton of SHMUPS and Fighting games where I do want a good D-pad and for those I do indeed use the Playstation 4 controller .

For anything else though ? I fucking looooove the steam controller. So i dunno maybe is it because I come from the fighting game fandom where the word of wisdom and mouth of the community is that there is no such a thing as a one size fit all controller and therefore don't mind cycling them around . But really like I said the horrendous D-pad doesn't hinder my love for the steam controller because I NEVER planned to use it for games where I would want one anyway .

Quoting: MohandevirI didn't witness a situation where the left trackpad was really needed... In my personnal experience, it could be replaced with a standard d-pad, similar to what you get in a DS4... Unless there are some special use case that I don't know of? I'm just curious to know...
Geometry Wars 3 on full doule touchpad setting is really a waaay better experience overall than using regular joysticks , there are other games in my collection that are twin stick shooter type games like that , that can take advantage of a dual touch pad setup so I'd be really sad to see them go away ...

Besides if you REALLY need a D-pad then you want the best one there is out there and therefore not plugging a DS4 into your computer is just asking for trouble ...
(sorry XBOX controller fans but NO those are not proper D-pads regardless of which XBOX controller we're talking about their D-pads are just straight up garbage )

The former Paradox Interactive CEO thinks "platform holders" 30% cut is "outrageous"

Because, you know my peasant money ain't worth it.
I wouldn't go this far personally but indeed if they wanted more cash from me (was about to buy some few stellaris DLCs and some Battletech goodness) well they're gonna have to wait for that ...

Like I said I'm a fan of what they are doing and always was annoyed by people complaining about the "paradox prices" (and I still am annoyed sorry not sorry but it's always worth every penny and then some ) buuuuuuut this here is utter horsehit on their part and they should know fucking better already .

Quoting: GuestI'm not saying Valve are evil. I might have given that impression, so allow me to say that they are investing in areas that are useful to GNU/Linux users. That doesn't mean they don't need a bit of competition though. That 30% cut is from lack of competition more than anything else, and I think developers are starting to suffer slightly from it. If only the epic store could adjust to being _healthy_ competition, then it might be alright.
Hell if anything the cut percentage should go up the bigger the sales and go down for indies ... but that's just me being a commie ...

Paradox I love you guys and I love your titles but when it comes to pricing you're not one to talk you should actually keep a damn fucking low profile on this one.
Don't get me wrong here your games are worth every penny that's been asked for and then some ...
Yet going on a rant about how much that cut is outrageous and saying that Valves just siphons out the market is just you showing your greed here ...
