Ion Maiden, a new 3D Realms FPS has launched in Early Access with Linux support
28 February 2018 at 8:23 pm UTC

KithopSo I did grab this, and... holy hell, there's actually slowdown still. Vsync off, 60fps cap, but it stutters in places and seems to drop to ~30fps. On an i7-4790K + GTX980 in OpenGL mode, knocked Anisotropic down to 4x. Whaaaaa? Something's not right there. :p

Also, while the *first* screenshot through the Steam overlay I took was fine, the second caused the game to lock up, music still running away. Early Access indeed, I guess. Will definitely have to come back to it and see, but, semi-spoilery easter egg - this looks familiar, doesn't it?

Spoiler, click me

for me it runs very well. the fps range was from ~2000fps to ~100fps alls very smooth. I used mesa drivers with amd ryzen 1800x and vega64lq

I have tested it and of course it downloaded like liam wrote. I like that this Game runs also with amd vega mesa driver. It is a nice part time Shooter for me on Linux. Nice comic graphics :-)

mesa-git 17.4.0_devel.97885.ddcd4b05a3-1

llvm-svn 6.0.0svn_r318558-1

Hi, i have updated too. Had recently switched to Cinnamon Desktop from kde. Because of the bad multimonitor support of my kde-setup (arch). cinnamon does it better. the only thing with cinnamon is the lack of refreshrate configuration. but i used the kde display setting just for the refreshrate :-).

Thankyou for that info. I like CIV VI on linux. I think this is the correct decision from the developers/porters. But I'am a bit sad too.

Hopefully the compatibility will land for one of the next patches. At least in this year.
Although this game is fun. Maybe you and samsai will nuke the enemys in your next game. with the new Team funktionality. :-)

Yes it was a very cool year so far for Linux Gaming. With the good work at the open drivers from AMD finally I am back to them and bought an GPU from them. But at least the newest generation drivers still needs some love
