Quoting: KohlyKohlAt this point, one has to wonder if they can afford to ditch two games in a row.
They ditched all of their previous games, not just two, first Savage and Savage 2 for Heroes of Newerth then HoN for Strife and then Strife for Savage Resurrection and then SR for this 'new game' which is basically a copy of some other game with assets from one of their previous games. I don't see this one playing out any different either, especially since this has the least effort put into it from all of their titles.
See what you mean now.
Thanks for the warning.
Won't be supporting them with my cash then.

Quoting: CybolicLiam, have you tried the update yet? I just bought it but it crashes immediately for me on Arch, so I'm curious as to whether you're seeing the same thing.

Liam went back to Ubuntu (he got pissed off on Arch for the openssl thing i think)

I have Arch , just started Starbound , loaded an old save and still works like a charm.

Quoting: KelsThing is, I wouldn't mind playing this as a more "support" type character, where I'm going off into the non-PvP wilds, exploring and gathering materials while fending off mostly hostile wildlife/monsters, while still playing a role in the larger player base. That kind of thing appeals to me more than going head-to-head in hostile zones. But there'd need to be stuff to do, interesting things to find when exploring, world lore to provide immersion, etc.
Sounds like you're describing an Elder Scrolls game :D

Yes , I see now what Strife game was meant.
Odd that it is the same name for DEV/Publisher but steam fails to show it , at least for me.
Usually if a dev and/or publisher release several games on steam and you click on their name , Steam lists all their products.

It's suspiciously bad programming to not make windows and linux compatible for online play. As a programmer I can only shake my head in disbelief. However, there's nothing wrong with the rest of the game experience. Besides, friends don't let friends run Windows when they can run Linux.
Well , it's Relic and their engine.
Probably it was never built with cross-os compatibility in mind.
On DOW2 it's a dead deal , but with DOW3 Feral said they might be able to port it in the future. Maybe. So there' still some hope.

Quoting: predator8bitI wouldn't hold my breath for this game's future. S2 is famous for starting up with a cool idea and then dropping the game's development. The perfect example here would be Strife since this game is using the art assets from that one.
Which Strife game ?
I tried to filter on steam based on their name as Publisher but all I found were this game and Savage Ressurection.
Is it an Android game ?

Then again , I guess we can enjoy it free until we are sure it is a done deal , and not put any real money in it.

Can you try to submit a bug report or contact Feral on their forums ?
Your machine seems VERY beefy . I doubt it will not run on that from a technical standpoint.
Maybe a missing dependency ??
