Besides the questionable devs with fragile egos , the system was being gamed for trading cards.
Voting groups would vote for the asset flips and get free copies.
Then they would leave fake reviews.
The dev gets the game sold and the voting groups and "dev" make money of the cards.

Couple of videos I would like to share on the topic:

Since we won't be getting Legend of Grimerock 2 ported this might be a nice little crawler once I finish the first one.

Does it have an editor built in Liam ? Or mod support ?

Quoting: monnefReally, suggesting 1k$ as an entry fee? You have to be in a rich country where even burger-flippers earn that in like two weeks... 1k$ where I live (center of EU) is above median by like 20% per MONTH. For a hobbyist making his game in free time it means he will never get it to Steam which IMO is bad. Why should only rich people or people from rich countries should be able to publish on Steam?
I get what you mean. Live in central EU as well.
I think people are just sick to death of asset flips and groups voting garbage to steam.
Truth is we wait and see. Best solution would be for steam to get people to review games rather than put up money hurdles and hoping things sort themselves out.

That said , there are other services like GameJolt and Itch.io that could be a great starting place for hobbyists and amateurs. Steam should be a more professional game store for more experienced devs. (despite the fact it is partly a garbage dump now)

Quoting: razing32Seems cute and an interesting concept.
My only problem are the floor textures. They could use a bit more nuance,
Can't believe I have such a petty nitpick...
I could add a natural pattern that re-arranges the 8x8 cells, but I also like the deliberate tiled look. Haven't decided what I'll do here yet.
Hey dev.
Thanks for the reply.
Don't mind the tiled look per se , it's just they seem a bit too uniform , that's all.

The art style reminds me of Broken Sword (1 and 2 more specifically).
