On the openlara engine I wondered how many of these things are out there in the ether of the net.
Today Liam delivers again.

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTSo does this engine feel like the original game? Some do, like "Return to the Roots" (The Settlers 2). Some don't, like Ceasaria (Caesar III). ;)Well , I thought Ceasaria sounded familiar , did a quick google and remembered it. Seems it was never finished. It is EA on steam and based on comments little to no work is being done. Maybe that's why the feel does not match ? (don't own it though)

If that's not your cup of tea , you can always play vanilla and uninstall I guess.
Still , a lot of games nowadays due to complexity and ports to certain operating systems (whose mascot is an aquatic flightless bird) need bugfixes and patches. Along with said patches a dev might discover a mechanic might need tweaking or re-balancing , or an exploit removed. I don't think the post release changes are a bad thing.
But again to each his/her own.

Quoting: GuestI’d rather not get new content… I don’t like games that keep getting changes months after release. When I buy a game I want something worth playing, finish it, and be done with it.I actually like this. Rather than have sequels that are just clones of the originals you get a game supported with more content .

Curios if anyone made any original content for this game-engine.
How cool would it be to have a Generals mod in this old school looking engine :)

You have to start something before any devs will join you voluntarily.
Huge undertaking. Not saying it wouldn't be awesome to have a powerful and also open source engine but I am not optimistic.
Wesnoth is a great game . It is one of my first go to games on Linux (bedsides Eschalon). still even with their project and google summer of code , they have issues at times with aging codebase per some of their announcements.

Quoting: AnzaAs for coordinating big projects, I haven't seen anything in open source games that would be same size as AAA games. Battle for Wesnoth has quite many contributors though and it even has good single player campaigns, which is rarity in games with open source assets (as opposed to projects like OpenLara).Yup , that was my concern.

Quoting: BeardedWhaleThanks for the reply.Quoting: razing32Good review. The game is 72 levels long. Towards the end, the puzzles grow very difficult, so if you like a real challenge, I'm sure the game will feel long enough.
Curios how long the game is and if there is a possibility to add community made level packs.
Would add more playability.
For less hardcore players, I'd estimate that there are about 40-50 levels that can be solved with a (relatively) casual approach.
I have considered supporting community made levels, yes. I'd just have to make an user friendly level editor first.

Nothing against this developer per say , but I have been burned by overly ambitious EA projects before.

Quoting: PeciskMy concern is seeing it done.Quoting: razing32I like the concept of this game and want to buy it but I am hesitant as it is still in EA and I am very torn.Considering it is 'mocking about' simulation game, fact it is in EA doesn't work against it - it is quite fun to see all mechanics simulated and playing out, even bugs are fun.
If sim games is your bag, it is a good buy. I like where developer goes with it. Sometimes EA is not a bad thing.

Peace, Death! Possibly one of the weirdest games I've played for a while

I want to try this but some of the reviews on steam have me worried for the direction the project is going in.
Will hold out and see for a full release.
