xpadneo is an 'advanced' Linux driver for the Xbox One S wireless gamepad

It's worth noting that there's an install.sh script that installs the driver for you using DKMS, so "compiling it yourself" is a matter of executing it.

Edit: missed the special corrections form

Open-source re-implementation of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 'OpenRCT2' has a fresh update
21 Mar 2018 at 2:32 pm UTC

It's a shame developers don't release the code themselves after many years pass, but that's a whole 'nother discussion for another time.
I think I've heard most of the RCT codebase was written in x86 assembly with the exception of the code interfacing with the OS, so while it would certainly be nice to have the source as a reference for OpenRCT2, it would still be a better idea to rewrite it for the sake of portability.

Quoting: legluondunet
Quoting: stretch611The one minor issue I have is that they replicated the original hot keys. So unlike most current games that allow you to scroll with the WASD keys, you scroll with the arrow keys. It takes a little to get used to it... I haven't tried to remap the keyboard for it yet.
Don't forget WASD is not a confortable mapping for all gamers, like french with AZERTY keyboard. Arrow key are international.
Well it would be best if the user could change the mapping to their liking, then everyone would be happy.

You mean where are the workarounds introduced to make up for a game abusing the API? To hell with that.

OpenRCT2, an open source game engine for RollerCoaster Tycoon 2
25 Apr 2017 at 1:40 pm UTC

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTSo does this engine feel like the original game? Some do, like "Return to the Roots" (The Settlers 2). Some don't, like Ceasaria (Caesar III). ;)
It does, in fact, feel like the original game, as far as I can tell. I've found myself playing it not even thinking about it being OpenRCT2, it was just RCT2 to me.

The next big update for Minecraft is in development and will feature Parrots

Quoting: Larianto peel Minecraft away from Linux would require that they kill the Java dependency. A way to do that would be to rewrite the code in some other language that doesn't support our OS (such as C#).
The .NET Framework does support Linux, officially. To peel it away from Linux, they'd have to kill the OpenGL dependency and use DirectX instead. I don't think it's worth the hassle for them, though. They "heart" Linux now, after all.

Open source game engine for Morrowind 'OpenMW' to gain 'Distant terrain' in the next release

Great news. I'm really considering grabbing Morrowind just to try this :)

As for the installation, innoextract should do the job if you get it from GOG, no need for Wine.

Us gamers should really be looking forward to Wayland. Especially those who use Optimus laptops because X can't use that properly. Yeah, we have PRIME and Bumblebee but both are basically hacks, prone to bugs and are rather inconvenient to use. Wayland can handle Optimus out-of-the-box and I can't wait to have proper Wayland-supporting drivers to make use of that.
