Also is FOOS a new acronym I'm not aware of, or just a typo for FOSS (Free and Open Source Software)?

ReignMaker, A City Building Political Strategy Game With Match-3 Tower Defense Combat

$10 is expensive in some parts of the world, but in my neck of the woods it's about what people pay for a single movie ticket -- this kind of game has WAY more hours of fun than a movie!

Yeah I really like the added tactical dimension of picking out different spells/troops/gear for different boards, and strategy of deciding when to use them while still keeping the matches going to kill enemies and re-power the spells.

No, I got the separate download from Frogdice, which is why I could install ia32-libs and have everything work right (the devs just posted an update on the Steam thread that your issue was the Steam build missing a lib).

Quoting: AnonymousHow did you get past the first level? It won't let me build the academy. Just takes the money and does nothing. I've sent them a bug report so we will see
Weird, neither of us ran into that bug yet, with a total of 5 towns started so far (some in easy mode, some in normal). In my main town I've got the academy maxed out to level 5 now...

At first I had problems with a crash on start, but that turned out to be just because I hadn't installed the basic x86 libs yet on this 64-bit install and the stained-glass movie part needed one of them (not an obvious dependency shown with 'ldd', but something in ia32-libs must have been needed because installing them solved the problem).

My other half and I both got copies, and played it a ton of hours already without being finished for even one of the three town types on normal difficulty. The boss battles are pretty hard -- I've needed to experiment with combinations of troops, spells, and items to get by each one. ReignMaker is definitely worth the full price from my perspective, let alone the sale price.

What The Hell Happened To The GamingOnLinux Design?

Looks like Liam already fixed the PM list visibility I mentioned yesterday, so I'm back to dark for now. I think it's great to have both dark and light theme choices for different needs/preferences :D

Some minor feedback, for tuning the dark look: somebody else mentioned giving a more consistent look by swapping out the greens for more blues, and I think I agree with them. The light theme shows off the logo colors well, and this one does pretty well except for the green.

Moebius: Empire Rising Adventure Game Delayed For Linux Because Of Unity3D

I hope the Moebius release today is a big success on the initial platforms, and the team gains momentum on their porting task with the resulting tide of enthusiasm :D

I switched back to the light theme for now because the index for my PMs is currently very hard to read in the default theme, with links as light gray on white. Anybody else seeing this?

Obduction Adventure Game Evaluating A Linux Port With Unreal Engine Supporting Linux
13 Apr 2014 at 4:05 pm UTC

Myst truly was groundbreaking in its day. Not a traditional point-n-click adventure by any means, I consider it to have created its own genre (like the article description points out).

At the time of the Obduction campaign, I didn't even watch the pitch video after seeing "Unreal engine", not wanting to dwell on what I was missing out on. Time to go watch it, and catch up on why many of my fellow kickstarter backers (ones who don't use Linux) were so excited!
