If your experiencing crashes in Wasteland 2: Directors Cut at the loading screens, enter the command "ulimit -n 4096" into a terminal and then run the game via that same terminal window, probably best to make a bash script if this works for you.

Microsoft Teams is now available on Linux

I have friends who ask me for tech help from time to time and one very common thing I've been requested to do is assist in the removal of Microsoft Teams from their PC. It comes with the MS Office Install that the local college provides, it seems to be a bit bloated and tends to slow down older laptops a tad, and for some reason is made to be more annoying to uninstall than the typical program.

It never really occurred to me that Microsoft Teams was anything besides bloatware.

Sounds like you need to wait for Starlink to get something decent. Paying $117 for 75 Mb/s is horrible. And ISP charging $50 extra for uncapped connection is a complete crook.

Even if I got the most expensive plan they got, I'd still have to pay an additional $50 a month to make that plan unlimited, which is just crazy. Not that I'd ever pay for their best plan, I'm absolutely certain they are throttling me on my current low end plan, so I kinda expect them to do that regardless of how much I pay.

Quoting: BotonoskiI really don't understand the appeal of game streaming, ain't really any savings for the consumer in the long run, especially considering how expensive internet tends to be in the US. My current PC cost me 2-3 months worth of a half decent internet plan

Germany is said to have bad internet conditions. I've got 50 Mbit/s for 30 bucks, no data cap. So my next PC will cost me 2-3 years(*) worth of the internet plan, and, way more important: I don't even need to pay anything additional for internet if I wanted to use Stadia.

(*) I really wonder what your internet and your PC cost if it's months for you...

My current internet plan, which was Comcast's second cheapest option at 75 mbps (though it's half that speed most days), costs me $66.95 a month plus tax. If I wanted to remove the data cap I'd have to pay an additional $50 monthly fee.

I really don't understand the appeal of game streaming, ain't really any savings for the consumer in the long run, especially considering how expensive internet tends to be in the US. My current PC cost me 2-3 months worth of a half decent internet plan and I just played through the entirety of The Outer Worlds on the thing. This kinda thing has far more benefits for companies than for consumers. There is a slight appeal for mobile gaming maybe, but frankly our modern smartphones are capable of amazing gaming feats all by themselves, no company is really taking advantage of all that power and it kinda makes me sad. We got a Witcher 3 port to the Switch, and that's really only a stones throw away from being an Android tablet. Though Android is far from being optimized for gaming, it probably needs a lot of work to get rid of the overhead.

Google have now expanded the launch titles for Stadia up to 22

Really seems like they're rushing this out the door as quickly as possible when they're adding to their launch roster so soon before release. Really ought to make sure things are set in stone before you announce them in my opinion.

Stadia looks to be very limited at launch and not just the amount of games

Looks like another project for the Google Graveyard, I just can't see any game streaming service working unless the US's internet infrastructure is severely overhauled.

I feel that Microsoft itself is growing closer and closer to straight up gutting Windows 10 and replacing the internals with some kinda Linux-Windows backward-compatible hybrid monstrosity, though that may just be my imagination/bizarre-fantasy. If that were to happen I gotta wonder how long, if ever, would it take for devs to move away from the compatibility layer and go full native.

Microsoft confirm their new Chromium-powered Edge browser is coming to Linux

Last thing I want is another Chromium-based browser.
Nothing wrong with Chromium but, you know, it's a bad idea to let the code we use to access the internet homogenize like this.
I say that... but at least it's open source, perhaps similar arguments could be levied against the linux kernel, maybe Chromium is just a real damn good base to work off of, and maybe building a browser from scratch these days compatible with all the popular sites is unfeasible.
Talking about this subject makes me miss the wild west times of the internet, now every time I open my browser I feel like I'm entering the line at a McDonalds rather than having an adventure.

I'm definitely gonna be keeping an eye on this one. Game demos are powerful, they sway my purchasing decisions more than any other form of advertisement.
